I would like to change my instrument cluster (2010 Hatchback auto) with a 2008 cluster (also hatchback auto), and wanted to know if they are compatible and plug n play. I wanted to do this because I like the white/blue color of LEDs on the 2008 better. Can I just unplug the old one and plug the new one and expect everything to work? Is there something special that needs to be done by the dealer? Are the mileage stored in the cluster or the main computer? Hopefully there's no special programming needed for it to work. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, they can be swapped. Could be wrong though. I do know that the mileage is stored in the cluster.

CTScott can fix the mileage if need be. so that it is in sync with the current total or toatl at time of change.

The 2008 will work, but you will lose your indicators for VSC, traction control, and cruise control (if you have it). Also, you would need an 08 cluster with ABS.
I can change the color, even of your 2010 to just about any color you could imagine:

Now that I have a choice, I'll have to figure out what color would be best. Can it be two colors (numbers different than the lines on the speedometer)?
Any idea if you can do this for a Scion iQ? There's a display panel on the iQ that shown the time and gas level which is kind of hard to see during the day. It would be nice to be able to change the color to something more visible.
I will definitely let you know on the Yaris.
Thanks

For the speedo, you wouldn't be able to do different colors for the numbers and lines, unless you had the plastic board reprinted with those areas colored. The LEDs that illuminate that area do both the lines and numbers together.
I haven't worked on an IQ, but I would bet that I could do it as well.

HI CTScott,
One other question... Can the 1- gas gauge/odometer, 2-the speedo, and the 3-clock be all different colors?
Thanks

Yes. That would be doable.

OK..I've decided on the colors. I think it would look good to have the main speedo in cobalt blue, the clock in red, and the gas gauge in white. Is this doable? Also, please let me know how long it would take to do it and the shipping details.
Thanks Much!

If you shipped me yours the cost would be $100 + return shipping. I can typically turn one back around in one day.

OK. I will try to get it out by next week and ship it to you. Please send me the address. Also, I think having the clock violet, the speedo blue (not the deep cobalt blue), and the clock, etc WHITE would be easier on the eye. I'm only more concerned with the cobalt blue being hard to see mostly at daytime, but I think the normal blue would be easier both day/night. Do you remember how many LEDs total to get them all changed?
Thanks.
