In my lengthy pre-purchase research, one of the things that's turned me away from the Honda Fit is that many owners complain of the factory paint being very thing and starting to peel after several years. Since my most important factor in my final decision is going to be long-term durability, that's leaving me less than impressed--especially when it sounds like the powertrain will easily last a long time. But while I've been hoping to pick up a Blazing Blue Yaris, I've noticed recently that a lot of people claim that the blue paint peels really easily--I even saw some photos on here of a Yaris's clear coat on the roof peeling like sunburnt skin. Is this some anomaly that could happen with any color given the right conditions, or should I think about getting a different color? Is it perhaps an issue that's been fixed for the third generation?

its an EPA issue. standards have brought the quality of paint way down. name me a car and I will find a forums complaining about the crappy paint.

you will gain zero advantage in regard to paint job quality picking a fit, yaris, versa, fiesta, accent, sonic, .....and on and on and on.

choose the car you like the best based on all factors other than paint. be careful of what type of vehicles you follow. touch up bad paint chips.
