Supercharger fuel controller

Hey guys,
I just bought a used Blitz supercharger. I noticed it comes with the fuel controller, and I'm wondering...what does it actually do?
Do I need it for the install or can I use something like the Aem FIC, instead? Or will I have to use that as well? I want to run the FIC to better tune it.

Also, I believe with the controller I have to splice into my ECU harness, is that correct?
I'm not too good with wiring and soldering wires, the hardware stuff is easy.

The fuel controller does two things:

1. Activates the S/C clutch based on throttle position. There is an input to the fuel controller from the S/C activation switch that tells it which position the switch is in (low/medium/high). Based on that switch the throttle controller closes the relay to engage the clutch and begins the second part of its job.

2. Adds fuel based on MAF sensor signal. The Blitz fuel controller is a primitive piggyback ECU, which simply adds fuel based on a preprogrammed map. Since it is not adjustable, if you have any mods (CAI, exhaust manifold, etc.) other than the S/C, you will run lean.

As for using a F/IC instead. It does make sense to use a programmable piggyback if you are running anything other than bone stock. The F/IC has the ability to have two maps loaded and to switch between them with a switch input, so if you desire to have the ability to turn the S/C off for fuel economy, you can take advantage of that feature.

You could also install both the F/IC and the Blitz controller together to maintain the 3 level of throttle activation, but that makes the system a bit more complicated.

Oh, and to answer your last question, the Blitz controller does easily splice into the stock harness.

In that you are wiring two devices to the car instead of one. Other than that, it isn't a big deal to run both. I do that so I can pull my F/IC out when I want to (to test harness issues for other people, etc.)

If you use the plug and play, then you would just have to wire the Blitz controller to that, so that would make it quite a bit easier.

Correct. All of the connections necessary for the Blitz can be made on the PNP harness, leaving your stock harness untouched.
