Kinda cool, but a bit tacky and a waste of money to do on a Yaris. The cars that have this system as stock are really awesome, with touch-sensitive pads that pop the doors open if you touch them when it's unlocked.

My show trucks all nicely shaven.

Solenoids pop each door via a button on my alarms remote. Poppers are installed inside the door jabs for when the solenoid pulls the door cable, the tension of the popper, "pops" the door open.

No finger nail grabing here.

Since the handles are color matched they dont stick out a whole lot. I guess to each his own. The money could be better spent elsewhere I think.

better spent on shaving that dinky thing of a trunk "handle" and having it be opened by remote or something. that's what i think hehe

There is not going to be a kit, for say, it is more you buy what you need an put it together, and weld the hold shut, and paint over it

what would be needed to have it open up by remote? as for welding the hold shut I'm guessing sheet metal then weld then paint.

just need to wire up a solenoid to a keyless entry pad (this is not as easy as it sounds, after you remove most of the locking mechanism you are going to have to rig something up), and you got the rest

If you plan on getting an alarm, you will be able to use the channels, to pop each door by itself.. or hatch, whatever you may be doing.

My CompuStar has 4 channels, and you can also get their channel expander to run, for example, my strobe's from my remote, roll down the windows by remote, etc.

Rear hatch wouldnt be hard at all. To patch that small void, and wire in one solenoid is not hard, especially if its getting wired into one of the channels of your alarm. Remember, you will need poppers though. Like mentioned in my last reply, this will force the door/hatch to "pop" open once the solenoid releases the latch inside. It will also keep it "propped" up so you dont need to be standing right next to the hatch before it relatches again.

oh lordy... better hope your clicker does not stop working... mine did after a couple years... "breaking into" my own fweakin car with alarm going off was real pain in the arse... new clicker cost $99 from dealer plus $35 for programming... I ended up having to lock with key for two more years

Thats why whenever you shave ANYTHING on the exterior that aids in entering your car, you have emergency pull cables hidden underneath.

Its attached directly to the solenoid, so if your "clicker" or battery ever go dead, you dont have to break into your own car.

Just out of curiosity, lets say you wanted to shave the side markers. You gain access to the inside of the fender and weld a plate behind the hole, then use bondo to fill the rest of the gap left to match with the rest of the fender? Or, do you have to cut the right sized piece of sheet metal to fit the hole left from removing the marker, then kind of precision weld that piece in place, then use bondo to finish? Does either way work?

from what I understand a proper job will not need bondo, just weld a replacement piece in and polish the whole area smooth, then repaint.
