I don't know man....I really like how the interior looks. Even though it isn't a center cluster dash, it looks really nice.

well, we have the corolla in NA..

actually, i've been thinking about replacing our second car (2002 civic) with a 2014 Corolla S MP CVT with premium package. (auto AC, moonroof, softex leather, 17" wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes), which seems much better than a Yaris.

it better be, since it costs a fair bit more. id have looked at the new corolla if it had been offered in a hatch.

^^^^^ I agree.

I know someone who lives there....acclimated to the climate pretty easily (originally from Las Vegas). Makes me want to go visit and see if I could rent one .

Here's the discussion about it from a year ago.

Talk about a vast interior improvement over the very cheap 2nd gen interior, which I don't mind, but this looks twice as expensive. Even the dash is faux stitched like the Camry.

This is another example of a sub-compact that is too nice to sell in N. America. The upscale interior would likely price this out of our market. It would have to be priced like a Corolla. And of course, 95% of people would buy the Corolla.

Oversees, where small cars are necessary, people expect their small cars to be nicely trimmed. Here, we buy bigger cars. Small cars are what "poorer people settle with" as is commonly thought. Many Yaris owners here, obviously, will tell you that's not the case. From a national majority standpoint though, the size of the buyers vehicle usually correlates to the buyers budget. The minority chooses small cars because they either prefer them and/or choose to live simply and well under budget and prioritize other things.
