Had them changed out at Toyota service center while in for suspension work . Replaced with DENSO SK16R11 plugs at $8.99 each . Car was idling rough , so had them replaced , seems no better . The tech lost one of the nuts for the engine cover and will likely have to order one at $2.35 . Here are pictures of used plugs at NGK , http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_support/spark_plugs/faqs/faqread.asp . Which one looks close to these ? Don't look that healthy to us .

I needed to replace the nuts myself a few times. I just purchased them at local hardware with the correct thread and have done fine. NO worrying about ordering any. Just a thought.

Check Spark Plug Condition (http://www.fatheadsmotorcycles.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/check_spark_plug_condition.jpg)
Looks like you could have a mixture of a couple conditions there.

Those plugs don't look bad for 73K miles.

What two conditions are you referring too? Is that with the NGK pics ? I was thinking that the PCV may be not working properly. Maybe I will clean it out or get a new one. Thanks

Thanks , but I expect to get it back the way it went in with all the parts . It's less than $2.50 . They're going to try to locate it , if not , hopefully a new one through parts .

Little wear but lots of carbon. Any oil consumption? Is this short trip driving? If so, this car needs some hwy driving or Italian tuneup.

Like Scott said with over 70k the results are not bad per se. Personally I would verify after 15-20k more miles how new ones look just for due diligence sake.

Usually 50 or more miles per drive on urban roads , interstate and some city . Did use some Chevron Techron for the tank before removal of the NGK and install of the new Denso , probably around 300 miles of driving of Techron on the NGK .

They are OK. Just gap them and put them back in for another 200,000k miles.

Are these the same plugs as the OP? They look much better in this picture indeed.

Have you cleaned the TB and checked the engine mounts?

The tech that test drove the car with me in it tested for the mounts and said it is fine . Is he right , I :iono: . Things are not turning out to well with work performed  .

I have heard these iridium plugs can last 200k miles. :-)

I pulled a set of Iridiums out of my Echo, at 192k they were shot. I'd say 150-175k at best.
IIRC, that big gap is normal for plugs with iridium tips.
I have had a look at mine (68k km), and they almost looked the same, just a bit less of coal on them.
However, I suspect american cars to run a bit richer than european ones.
Might be due to different emission standards, I'll have to do some research in order to get clarity.
Btw, how is your long term fuel trim?
