So on my 2010 yarii I ordered the MI fog light kit and followed the instructions step by step. BUT the fogs won't turn on.. When I hit the switch the light on the dash will turn on but the actual fogs will not. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If the indicator is turning on, then the fog light relay is getting energized, as the indicator is driven by power flowing through the contact side of the relay. So, make sure that your two pins in the under-hood fuse box are installed in the correct positions and that your ground terminal is making good connection to chassis ground.

Do you have a mulitmeter? I would check the voltage between the two pins on the connectors that plug into the bulbs. Also, take a close look at the bulbs to make sure the filaments aren't damaged from shipping.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have a question that fits under the title of this thread. I just installed the MI foglight kit and everything works as it should under the OEM style install. I tried to change the wiring from "fogs on with low-beam only" to " fogs on with low and high beams". According to the PDF, I needed to connect the grey wire of the kit harness to the white/black striped wire on the bottom row, 4th position. I did that and the fogs now turn on independently of the headlamps.

I prefer my fogs to turn on and off with the headlamps so I don't accidentally leave them on a kill the battery. My Yaris is a 2010 5-door hatchback. Might there be a discrepancy between the years in the wiring?

Thanks.

That is actually a typo on the install guide. Connect the grey wire to the white wire in pin 13, if the wire in the 4th position in the bottom row is not green.

Pin 13 is the white wire under the orange wire.

Thank you very much, CTScott!

One question. If I want the indicator light in the switch to only light up when the fogs are on, would I just reconnect the switch power wires to the yellow and grey wires that come off the headlamp wiring? Basically, that would mean the LED in the switch would only get power if the fogs are getting power, right?

No. That would make the light only come on when the fogs are off. With the indicator on the cluster, I don't see why you would want the switch light on when the lights are on. The purpose of the light is for finding the switch in the dark to turn the fogs on.

I can find the switch just fine in the dark just by feel. I am used to having the switch light up when the fogs are on as that was how the driving lights switch was wired up on my previous car. It was an aftermarket install and the car never had the factory dash indicator so I had the lighted switch serve as my indicator. No big deal if the red LED stays on on the MI fogs switch. Just wondering if I could make the change.

OK. To do that you would need to connect the switch's brown wire to one of the red wires on the back side of the fog light relay socket and the green wire to ground.

This is just one side. But both sides look the same.

Mine also had gaps around the top of the bezel. I don't think the gap on mine is as large as yours. I was going to try using a heat gun to warm up the plastic and try forming it by hand to make the gap smaller. That or use some of the 3M VHB tape to stick it in place. I don't think the gaps will have any negative effect on the fogs other than being an aesthetic nuisance.
