I've got a 2010 poverty pack model, which has the bluetooth phone/streaming head unit, but no controls on the steering wheel. Does anyone know if I can initiate Siri / voice dialling without having a steering wheel 'talk button'? If not, can I tap in to the wiring harness and mount a button myself? I'm not keen on touching my phone to start Siri while driving due to the $400 fines you get for it.

I installed the Toyota Bluetooth module in my 2010. However I just use mine to answer calls

I believe that as long as your phone will accept voice commands, the bluetooth will work

Check out the bluetooth manual

This is the head unit in my Yaris:

The green phone button switches the head unit to phone mode, but doesn't activate voice dialing as far as I can tell, it just lets you answer or end a call. Higher spec models have a button on the steering wheel for voice dialing, which I think I would need to emulate to get it to work.

If I include pictures in my replies they don't seem to work; anyway that's a similar head unit to the Australian version, except ours is silver, and there are a couple of buttons below the display to enter and exit phone mode - but they don't activate voice commands. I'm thinking I have to replace the steering wheel with the model with the buttons in it, or make up a wiring loom and mount a button elsewhere that emulates the steering wheel buttons.

AFAIK, I don't think any 2nd gen Yaris were officially equipped with bluetooth, and steering wheel controls did not have voice commands button.
