I've just recently got my Yaris (2012 sedan) and I'm really liking it a lot. However, I've noticed that when I drive over a grove in the road, the car wants to kind of slide along it (for lack of a better word). I've owned some small cars before but hadn't noticed this problem. Does anyone know what causes that and if there is anything I can do to correct it (i.e. change tires or shocks or something).
Thanks,
Ryan

Very well could be the tires from the factory if you haven't upgraded them. Which ones are they? And welcome to the community!
sounds like a tire thing. It happens on all sorts of cars sometimes.

I removed the fuse for the power steering to fix that. You're choice. Put the fuse back in once it was lowered and all is well!

Slow down ...lower tire pressure would not be surprised that they are to high as for power steering how would that make a difference ...

Thanks for the responses! I think that they the original tires; I bought this from Enterprise car sales and it only had about 40,000 miles on it.
Not sure what my tire pressure is but I will check!
When it comes time to replace the tires, any suggestions?

Lots of good suggestions can be found in the Wheels, Tire and Suspension forum.
You may also want to consider lowering your center of gravity and/or a swaybar. I've done all of the above on my LB and it rides like a dream on highways.

My car lowered with rr sway likes to get a little loose in the rear especially when spirited in the wet.
Its been a looong time since I drove one on the stock suspension but that's likely a major contributor to the feeling.

This particular post prompts me to think that you might find any/some of Kimona's posts on tread patterns helpful. Just do an advanced search under his user name with 3 keywords: tread, pattern, patterns.

 re lower tire pressure. I noticed a greater feeling of stability when I lowered pressure from 38 PSI to the Toyota recommended 32 PSI.

Now you tell me!
However. ..mine seems like a rock. Maybe I've the special tuned suspension? or it could be the aluminum Mazda2 wheels?
Or maybe 40 is the new 30?

205/45R16 and I run 28psi front, 24psi rear on a 2009 3HB. on the 185/65 I ran 30 in front and 28 rear. Any higher is nuts for me.

I run 40psi all around.. just hunting for mpg though.. I do 900+ kms a week.
Just put the summer wheels on and didn't check the pressures, car felt bouncy and too smooth, I knew something was up.. Now the pressures are where I prefer them! back at 40 from 25ish

I still run the stock Bridgestone Turanza P195/65R 15 84H that came on it. I run +/-37 PSI. These might bounce a little, but I cannot complain about the fuel mileage. :-)

I'm using good year viva 2 and my Yaris doesn't slide enough. They were dirt cheap at my local Wal-mart too.
