I've been driving my Yaris with NO antenna since I was afraid to go through a car wash with the OEM antenna and since I'm short and I need a step-stool to reach the antenna to un-screw it.....
I get good enough reception with NO antenna but it doesn't look so great.
How about the stubby antenna? Can it be left on and survive a car wash?

Yes. I use one of the Toyota OEM antennas (86309-02090), which is used on a bunch of other Toyotas and fits our mount perfectly, and I leave it on through car washes without a problem.

Does the 86309-02090 provide better reception than the stock Yaris antennae did ?

Better: no.
About the same: yes.
I've had the stubby one on since about six months into owning it. No complaints.

I've always wondered if the stubby is better than the in windshield type they use on the sedans?
