I was in Finland last week for work and saw a lot of Yarii. In fact, I'm confident I saw more Yarii there in one week than I've seen here in Minnesota for the two years that I've owned my 2012 Yaris. The Finnish must be pretty smart??????

Smart & economical. Europeans have always been good with small cars. I believe much of the reasoning is due to lack of road space in the larger cities. I'm actually kind of surprised at how many Yaris I've come across here in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains...It's a good thing

Yaris models are rare in my neck of the woods. Of the Gen 3 models, I have seen only one other car in my local area. It was a red one. I have seen numerous Gen 2 models, though.

I wonder how much various taxes factor into the phenomenon you observed.

I would say that they are way cheaper to keep here than "normal" sized cars. Lower taxes, lower insurance, lower fuel consumption(fuel is very expensive here, because of high taxes. Normal 95octane with 10% ethanol costs about 1,6€/litre, 98octane is 1,65-1,7€/litre and diesel is 1,5€/litre) etc. And they are very easy to drive in our cities, where the parking space is minimal :D And Toyota has been most selled car here for many years. Main reason for that is the reliability of these things :D

And yes, there are a lot of yaris' here in finland :D

the reason you don't see many Yarii in America is because "MRKA".
"get that damn Jap Crap outta here!!!"

I love ignorance....
