Hi all, I've been the happy owner of a Yaris Verso from 2002 for the past ten years or so; it's taken me all over Europe, from Glasgow to southern Italy!
It's rarely let me down, but 2 nights ago a loud and persistent high pitched noise began under the hood. I turned the car on, drove it out into my driveway to take a look and disconnected the battery to see if that'd fix it.
That did stop the noise, but upon reconnection, the alarm went off immediately - now the car is immobilised and even with the keys in the ignition it won't deactivate the alarm. The alarm button on the key fob does nothing either. As an experiment I charged the car's battery with a trickle charger in case it was low, but that doesn't seem to have helped either; the battery's charged now and the problem persists. I've had to disconnect the battery for now.
Our local mechanic is busy for weeks ahead, so I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone had any suggestions please! If there's an easy way to completely disable the alarm, that would be fine, so long as I can drive my car again!
