Bought the car in December of 08' and out darn near 40,000 miles per year on it. Just replaced the water pump! So cool! Recently installed new brake pads and rotors. Back ones are still good!

Love that car!

sweet. I have yet to do more mileage on mine, but work has put me very close to home in the past 5 years, so i'm not doing nearly the mileage an average car should.. Still a bit to go before hitting 100,000miles (143,000km right now) on my 07 Yaris, bought in October 06.

Met a woman in the parking lot with an 09 like mine with 125k on it. She said her family planned to sell it when it got to 200k. I gave her this excellent sites web address and told her to read up on the Yaris and to KEEP IT!

I had an FZ1 too years ago. It was a black and yellow bumble bee.

Awesome bike!

My car will probably dry rot first before I ever reach 200,000 miles.

Good to know that one so far up north has also made it to 200k relatively trouble free! I'm still running on my original water pump and all original brake parts (one member didn't need a brake job until 400k miles). I did have to have the front wheel bearings done at 110k, and a new (rebuilt) alternator at 159k. I got the alternator replaced at the Sears in Burnsville, about 50 miles northwest of where you are. When the service writer finally located an alternator, he said he was glad it was that particular shop that had what I needed, as they do great work....and it's still humming along 130k + miles later.

I'm just below you with my '07, at 209,000. I don't put quite the miles on it that you do, but it still feels like a lot of driving.

Haven't had to do a brake job on the car yet, but it's looking like the front will be soon. What was your issue with the water pump? Just not staying cool enough?

The car was making an odd noise (never usually does). Kind of a vibrating and grinding sound. I thought it was a CV Joint but found nothing. There is sharp mechanic in town and he pinpointed the noise to the water pump. I told him to go ahead and that took care of it. It worked.

The car never once ran warm or overheated.

I'm at 203,000.....just did the water pump (no overheating...just noisy enough that the wife thought I needed a new car....HA!)

Amsoil and Wix filters

Changed the usual stuff....even the shocks and struts (ride is a lot better now).

I'm going for 300k!

my 07 has just over 204,000 miles and running strong! i've had to do oil changes a little more frequently in the last year or so(seems to be slowly burning oil), but otherwise runs great.

what kind of things should i start looking out for now that it's starting to get up there in age? i haven't noticed any problems, but it would be good to know what to look out for. i've thought about trading it in, but honestly i think it's worth more to me than any dealership would be willing to give me for it- that and no payments is nice! thanks!

I'm at 320k and the only "major" repair was an alternator. Stock clutch, engine, trans etc.

I may look into swapping the water pump as a precaution

You need a water pump. Have it done you don't want the engine to blow.

i've had to do oil changes a little more frequently in the last year or so(seems to be slowly burning oil), but otherwise runs great. I guess you probably haven't been using synthetic oil. I found that makes a huge difference on engine wear, and hence oil consumption.

Apart from that, my 2007 Yaris has only needed to have the front brake rotors and pads changed due to natural wear, and the rear wheel bearings changed, due to the infamous ABS light issue. It's got well over 200,000km on it now (I forget the exact number now). My 2004 Gen 1 ran flawlessly for over 230,000 km until it got hit in an accident.

One of the great things about these engines is that they don't have any timing belt, so no timing belt changes ever!

Sent from my phone. Please excuse any typpos.

296k 2009 2dr hatch here... starter was replaced because the pin was bent, 2 brake jobs, 2 tune ups, and just standard maintenance and she runs like a champ.

I often wonder if I should preemptively replace the water pump or alternator since I'm on the originals???

I wouldnt if I drove mostly locallly. Just check the bottom of the hood on the passenger side three or four times a year for red coolant stains. Id leave the alt alone too. Toyota ones are $$$ and remanufactured ones not known for longevity/

Good luck!
