I received the check engine light on my 2010 Yaris sedan, I recently changed the oil and air filter, When I scanned the car at advanced auto Parts The scanner reviled an error Code C1201.

Through Further Research

C1201 = ABS Inlet Valve Coil LF Circuit Short to Ground

but I have been braking hard from time to time. I looked at other forums and one said one fix would be to change the brake pads and top off the brake fluid. my question is would that be a good solution to try.

please help and in any advice.also could you be very explicit, when reading other forums there where key words like follow the LC circuit and I don't know what that means or how to check it.I am still learning about cars but I really would like to do everything myself if possible.

Thank you guys for taking your time to read this.

If the check engine light was on, then the stored code would not be an ABS code, as the check engine light is just for emissions related issues.

Is the ABS light on?

Actually sorry not the Check Engine Light its like the light that says Main Required light, and the advanced auto representative scanned it and the code popped up C1201 but its the main Required light.

The maintenance required light means you are due for an oil change. The C1201 may have been an error that was logged at some point, but with the ABS light not on, it is not a current issue.

I did an oil change within a couple weeks prior to the error and the oil I used was the 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil which should of giving me 15,000 miles after the oil change. So if scanner misread the ecu, do you think i have an oil leak problem? Yes The Abs indicator has not come up.

The indicator is programmed for 5000 miles and will come up once reached.

Toyota recommends oil changes every 5000miles wether you are using synthetic oil or not.

If you didn't reset the Maintenance Needed counter. It will not know you changed the oil.
I don't remember the sequence to reset it but there are a few threads here. Giving the reset procedure.

with the trip meter set on trip A..

Ignition off.

Press & hold the trip reset button and turn on the ignition (you do not have to start the motor).

There will be a series of dashes that go away one by one. When all gone, the oil change (maint required) indicator will go off and it is now reset.
