clutch demaged after restarting gear

i have a yaris 2008 with a robotic gear (.65000 km) the gear started to get stuck, as often happens with this kind kind of gears. i took it to the garage, they checked it and told me that they have restarted my gear 2 times but the problem is with the clutch, which is wasted. the treatment cost around 1500 dollar! as i got back to the car, i notices that the problem i had no more exists but now the car wouldnt move much when i push the gaz. a few hours later the car stopped moving at all! i had no preliminar signs to this problem which makes me believe that something they did in the garage caused it. if so i want them to take responsability for it. am i right?
