Was thinking about powder coating factory wheels flat black and doing brakes in red... anybody have this combo? Don't really want aftermarket wheels because I love the pirelli high mileage tires and am fine with keeping the same size... These wheels if anyone is unsure:

Those would look good in black. Rather than the expense of powdercoating and having to remove the tires to do so, for flat black, I would just shoot them with plastidip.

You know I thought about that but wasn't sure about how resiliant that stuff was... I mean I'm sure it will chip as would powder coat - but does it start coming off like an old sticker overtime?:iono:

I have never actually used it myself, but reading about other people's experiences with it, it seems like a great non-permanent way of doing something like this. It will eventually chip or peel, but when it starts to, you simply peel it all of and hit it again. The other nice thing about it is if you get tired with the look, it is far easier to change.

Works well but does chip easy i find , other option just paint . I painted a set of wheels by using good primer and wheel paint , originally rims where silver and did them in bronze truned out great and no chipping .
Light sand and few layers of paint , as for powder coating it can get expensive i would say close to 300$ at that point look for rims on sale ..15 ich rims can be bought cheap ....the wheel in pic was finished product .

^^ I run prius rims for winters. SOO light, but still about a pound heavier than my RPF1s

Found a reputable powder coater locally that will do it for $250. Any pics of a yellow yaris with flat black rims by chance?

Any recomendations for black lug nuts that will fit with the stock wheels I have?

The stock alloys use a special washer style lug nut. I'm not sure there's an aftermarket replacement for them that you'll be able to find in any other colour.

There are no aftermarket coloured ones.

How about having the powder coater shoot your existing lugs?

Good point! I guess it didn't occur to me that he's likely doing the same thing any other company that sells colored lugs is doing! Lol
