Hey everyone
I've purchased a 6.2" DVD Type HEadunit but have problems installing the unit. (I've installed a single din headunit into my yaris before).

The problem I have is that on the factory mounting brackets the came with the yaris there are "dimples" on the mount which were used to hold onto the factory unit.. However the Headunit I have purchased does not have those holes..,
So what's happened now is when I screw the bracket on, those "dimples" are causing the bracket to not sit flush and instead stick out a bit and now I am unable to install this headunit.. Can anyone help?

I had a video showing whats happenning.. but ive seem to have lost it... ill try get one up in the next few days

That's weird. Those dimples are ISO. Means any radios should mount and have holes to fit them.

What is the headunit you purchased? A picture of the side would help.

Its a generic Chinese one off Aliexpress... however I did read somewhere on a toyota forum that for some headunits you need the "BASH" those dimples to be flush in order to fit. Tried that, but the metal is so damn solid.

Yes, you should be right that the holes are ISO. Because they fit into my Xplod Single Din + Dash Pocket..

That is correct that for some aftermarket headunits you need to remove the dimples in the OEM brackets.

Thanks CTScott, Do you have any recommendation/idea on how to remove the dimples? I tried it with hammer the other day but the whole bracket started bending....

Or, grind them down with a dremmel tool.

Drill them away?

Drill and Dremel are viable options.

When I had to remove mine I used a small file. The metal is actually quite soft and a couple swipes with the file knocked them right down.

Update: Got rid of the dimples... But guess what? With the brackets on the headunit does not fit the car mounting holes for the brackets. I opened a case with the seller on aliexpress and they didn't give a damn about it so I'll just chuck it on eBay and see what I can get back for it.

Why not drill more holes in the mounting brackets? I have filed the dimples down on mine and added more holes to make everything line up and use 4 screws. Little bit of work, but worth it to use anything and everything :)
