View Full Version : P1 - how do I get the fuel pump out?

Dear Enthusiasts,

the Yaris P1 VVT-1 1litre from 2000 I recently got from my father just let me down; it seems, the fuel pump went bust.

I just got a second hand working pump to replace the old one (that starts buzzing if I connect it to 12V, but does not deliver fuel).

My problem is: I failed to unlock the 8 screws that hold the ring on top of the pump. But if I look at pictures of the fuel tank (e.g. on ebay), I am not so sure anymore that these screws are really holding the ring down.

Can someone please give me a hint?

Johannes

Hi Zafraan,

thank you for the reply!

Did you already opened these screws on your car?
On my they feel completely seized - are they secured in any way I just did not discovered yet? e.g. by Locktite? (And Toyota really should have used allen or torx screws here, in my opinion...)

Best regards, Johannes
