When I first turn my A/C on the fan runs at the setting I set it at (typically 4) but it quickly slows down to what position 1 or 2 would output. Any guesses as to what's up? Is the fan speed analog or is there a speed controller somewhere?

The cabin fan speed is adjusted with a resistor.

What happens if you run it without AC? Probably unrelated, but just what if.

If the resistor failed, it would not work, so my guess is your fan is defect.

Agree, your fan is suspect. Full speed should have "no" resistance from the control (I think) so any reduction of speed points to a bad motor. If it makes lots of noise, it's a bearing. If not, it's probably the brushes or a coil about to short out.

^Exactly. I have a good OEM one on hand if you are interested. The fan motor is very easy to replace and access (just below the glove box) - Just disconnect the connector from the bottom of it and remove the three mounting screws.

Sorry for the delay. the fan housing has a bunch of water in it so ill be sorting that out first. my guess is the fan is going to fail due to the water issue. Ill let you know Scott.

Sounds like the condensate drain is clogged. Do you have a cabin filter installed?
