i hear a noise when braking firmly, like something is knocking 2-3 times in the front of the car...
before having it checked, did that happen to anyone else :iono:
I don't have this problem, however, I have another problem with the brake. When I'm stopped, and applied the hand brake, I have to pull the handle pretty high in order to get the car to steady, or else it will be making squaking sound when I step out of the car or moving inside the car. Is this because of the Drum brake? As this is the first car I have drum brake on. Thanks.

um have you had anything worked on for your car in the front? does it happen uphill downhill flat roads?

springs changed... probably some bolt not tight enough...

if it knocks during hard braking its your abs system... antilock braking system.. thats normal..comes in handy on winter....nothing to worry about.:headbang:

If its more of a "click click" and you can hear inside the car, I had the same problem. Had to have the brake switch replaced which is up under your steering wheel area.

it comes actually from the front brakes area - no abs
did check it, with no results as far

well if you had springs done. the strut bolt may be too loose or a strut mount bolt may not be torqued properly. i would check them out first. if so it will sound like the brakes are loose during braking or on bumpy roads.

As a side note, only use Toyota OEM brake pads. Cheap pads on Toyotas and Hondas will squeal even if you use all the brake quiet goo possible.
