Hello,

New so go easy, have a 2001 Toyota Yaris 1.3SR with what has been a noise for about a year (I'm a novice so thought it was just an aux belt) so we changed that belt and the noise hasn't gone away. An ex Toyota Mechanic suggested it was a bearing on the timing setup. I'm unsure as to whether this is true, as I can't see any videos or forum posts whining about this, the guy suggested it was a common fault.

It's a whirring noise from some parts, If I posted a video would someone be able to give us a push in the right direction?

Also has anyone heard of this before, from what I'm reading I'm being pushed towards bearing's on the pulleys?

Definitely post a video. On our US 1.5L Yaris, that kind of noise is typically due to a bad water pump.

Thanks for the quick reply, it's night time here in the UK so I will post a video tomorrow.

What would I need to replace, or is it as simple as just the water pump if that appears to the problem?

Seems quite cheap the part over here, it's around £30 would it require a ramp to do due to space?

Procedure for a NA spec 1.5 http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12727

Probably very much the same, or at least give you a general idea about what would be involved for your 1.3
