no drive with auto yaris

HI guys iv joined this forum hoping someone can help me my daughter got her self a 1.3 yaris 1.3 2004 model auto and now the gearbox has no drive we have been told its the ecu and maybe the gearbox can someone give me an idea how to test to see if its the ecu or the gearbox.:confused:

What does it do or not do? Does reverse work? If you pull the transmission dipstick and smell it, does it smell burnt?

HI ct thanks for your reply their's no gears at all and theirs no smell of burning.

First, check the fluid level, next check the shift linkage.
Make sure it's indexed & moving.

^Exactly. Watch the front of the tranny as someone moves the gear lever (with the ebrake on) to see if the lever on the tranny moves when the gear lever does.
