Toyota Tops GM in 1Q Global Auto Sales
By HANS GREIMEL
Associated Press Writer
'TOKYO — Toyota Motor Corp. became the world's top auto seller in the first three months of the year, passing rival General Motors Corp. for the first time, the Japanese automaker said Tuesday.
Toyota sold 2.35 million vehicles worldwide in the January-March quarter, the company said, surpassing the 2.26 million vehicles that GM said it sold during the same period. The results mark the first time Toyota has beat GM in global sales on a quarterly basis....'
I'm glad I could help Toyota achieve this lofty title. But we must all remember...'with great power comes great responsibility'.
Keep your focus on reliability not sales and the customers will keep coming Toyota.

"General Motors Death Watch 119: Toyota Replaces GM as the World’s Largest Automaker
"...You don’t need to compare long and short term business plans to understand the difference between Toyota and General Motors; although if you did, GM’s recent inability to devise a coherent platform strategy or develop a world class economy car would certainly give you pause for thought. All you have to do is sit in a few cars..."

areitu, that article was great! Though it is kinda' sad to see a legend go down in flames (gotta' respect the classics). I've long wondered why they felt the need to carry so many brands, when it was so painfully obvious that they were all the same cars? Surely they don't think that's fooling anyone...?

unless... they were hoping to make a lot of income from people all over the world buying badges to return their cars to their proper manufacturer, kinda like people change their yaris badges to Vitz... could be a huge market.

Even if GM pulls ahead in sales by the end of the year, the more important number, profit, will still have Toyota in first place.

GM: the parent company of Buick. That says it all.
