Perhaps Toyota should make him an offer he can't refuse. While Toyota is undoubtedly the most reliable car on the market, they have IMHO become the absolute worst in exterior design.

theyre not the absolute worst. citroen and peugeot, among others, make fugly cars.
i don't think Toyota needs him as much, as Toyota designs are now more aggressive, thanks to CEO Toyoda (the son). But yes, Ford's designs are way better in my eyes than Toyota's. Though i still think Mazdas have the sleekest and prettiest mass-produced cars. (not comparing to Lexus, Acura, Audi or those even higher up like Aston-Martin, Porsche, etc.)

Well, we don't have Citroen and Peugeot to compare. But IMHO, Peugeot currently makes some of the best looking cars globally.

Good riddance to poor talent. Retrofuturism is a complete joke.
If Toyota should bring someone back from retirement, it should be Chris Bangle of BMW. He was a true innovator in automotive design with strong sense of original and organic styling. 2 cents.

Toyota styling is lacking for the most part (especially the newest USA Corolla), but new Honda autos are even worse (especially the Fit, Civic, and CRZ). There is no way I would buy any current auto by Honda, since they are all so grossly unattractive to me in one way or another - plus I really don't want any car bigger than a Civic/Corolla type sedan anymore. Ironically, every new auto that I have owned in my life (about 10 of them) has thus far been a manual transmission Honda/Acura of some sort - though that will change in 2015, since I really like the 2009-2011 Yaris Sedan (manual-transmission) for some reason.

Sometimes all it takes is a new bumper:

Giugiaro had it right with the above. It's so.... Maserati..

What was Fiat thinking? And they called this the "Evo" I don't know what caused this evolution, but the beast got uglier.

At a certain point, you see right through all the body styling. For me, really, it's the inner beauty that counts.
Until Fiat barfs up a design like above. What the hell is that, some kind of chrome moustache?

That's precisely the reason I'll continue buying Toyota... as ugly as they've become!

And by inner beauty I didn't mean interior. But yeah, there is some kind of cuteness to Yaris's Lego trim and waiting-room upholstery.

So I'm not the only one who likes the 2nd gen styling more than 3rd?

One of my favorite cars to drive (my buddy owns one in Europe) ... Punto Abarth.
