Hey everyone, hoping you can help

I need to order some coilovers asap so let me give you a brief

-I plan to only street drive my car (its a daily driver), no track whatsoever.
-I live where the roads are a mixture of smooth and bumpy
-The fastest I probably go is 40-45mph
-I usually have people in the car (so I want to go completely flush and when people are in the car it doesnt drop too much)
-I want to have it flush with my tires (no wheel gap) and go lower in the future (Wheel setup: 16x7 40et wrapped in 195/45s)

I read through the threads and Its between:

Megan Racing Coilovers (spring rates: 6k front/3k rear) 32 levels of damper adjustment
&
TEIN Street Basis coilovers (4k front / 3.1k rear)
No damping adjustment

The only differences between the two are the front spring rates and the ability to adjust damper I guess.

What i have read so far is that the megans are too stiff and people dont like it
but on the other hand, the Teins dont drop as low.

I was leaning toward the megans but are the 6k on the megans really that unbearable (I don't want my passengers complaining)

I want whichever one has a better balance between comfort and the lowering capability.

Can you help me decide?

I love the back of my car, the front... not so much

This

(so I want to go completely flush and when people are in the car it doesnt drop too much)

Doesn't go with this

(I don't want my passengers complaining)

I say go with Teins as there is a lot more experience with those on here vs the Megans.

Tein Basis installed on mine. Check my thread, and PM me if you've got questions. But for comfort, low ride, and no rubbing.. I say you pick two.

Sorry @WeeYari forget the "when people are in the car it doesnt drop too much" part

Wanted something that's stiffer yet still comfortable

But wanted to know if the 6k on the megans are really that bad because I thought you could counter that with damper

I love the back of my car, the front... not so much

why?

You can't counter anything, it is just one adjustment that changes both things.

Comfort does not go with coilovers, if you want comfort get Tokico reds and springs.

Okay, what if I said more comfortable to ride on lowered since the Teins dont have dampening

Why don't you consider the h&r coil over kit. Really well built, its only height adjustable, though. It doesn't slam but it goes pretty damn low. The pic in my Sig is with my setting of the h&r kit and it had quite abit more space to go lower but I was rubbing at that point in corners. My rims are 15x6.5's with 38 offset and 195/55/r15 tires. Same diameter as stock but slightly wider (I believe an inch wider)

The h&r kit rides really comfy (for a coil over). It actually rides exactly like my 2012 wrx sti OEM suspension. But it handles really well, I mean completely changed the driving charecter of the car for the better.

Here's a link to my install.

The price unfortunately.
I want the exact look you have: No gap
Just barely tucking is my goal
I think it's worth saying that I'm rocking a sedan

FYI, I just returned your PM.

Cliff notes:
Megans = too stiff for me
Megan quality = poor (the paint on my coils started to flake off; springs started to rust)
Megan customer service was very poor when I dealt with them in 2007.

Currently I'm on Tein S-Techs and Tokico HPs and have been very happy with the setup. I don't need stuff; I don't need adjustable. I need functional and stylish, and my setup fits the bill.

And unless you absolutely need the adjustability this is the way to go. With my Megans to adjust the fronts I would need to take 3 or 4 pieces off. I could do it in maybe 30 minutes, but then I would need to put it back on. Not worth it.

Can you explain to my why I would need the adjustability? I just want to tuck a tiny bit. I'm leaning more towards the teins now

That's the thing. You don't need it.

The Teins should be okay to get rid of wheel gap then correct? I just don't wanna make the mistake and regret it

Are you talking Tein S-Tech springs, or the Street Basis coilovers? With a drop of almost 2", the S-Techs will completely eliminate the gap. All with the simplicity of just a spring.

If you want flush, lots of low, and the ability to have passengers.....you will need different spring rates. The springs either set comes with will be too soft, and you will likely bottom out lots. Everyone's said no to megan, but I like mine. I'm running 8k springs all around and while the ride is a little stiff, the dampenimg can adjust that. I'm less than 3 inches from the ground, too. Just my 2 cents :D

Im also on 8k all around, full soft on the dampening, sure its not comfy in bumpy roads/pot holes, but slapping the car left and right is tight on rails.

Well, anyone have any experience with BC?
Which are front: 5k & back 3k

So if I order the megans I'll just have to order special springs I assume

Keep in mind, I have a sedan (don't know if that makes a difference at all)
I want something that can take me thru bumpy roads and potholes without me having to call 1-800-chiro-practor

Also, what's the point of getting higher spring rates if you're just gonna put the dampening on the softest? Wouldn't that be the same as.. let's say 6k with the dampening in the middle?

To add ^
I'm not worried about my own comfort. I'm worried about the comfort of everyone else who gets in my car.

If it was just me, living on my own, I would have got Megan 8k all around and slammed my car

No, I'm on some cheapo ebay springs called "lotek" and the sell only said that they are 'about' 20% stiffer than stock

I've only heard of people needing/using/wanting adjustable socks for track use. For everything else it's a bit of a nuisance
