How to listen to music from Nexus 4 (LG) thru AUX in 2009 Yaris?

I have 2009 Toyota Yaris which has the AUX input jack not on the radio but on the right side down.

I want to listen to music from Nexus 4 which is an LG brand, by plugging into this AUX.

My radio has the AUX option.

But when I checked ebay and amazon I was not able to find a cable that is suited for this job. Can someone help?

The aux jack is a 1/8" stereo headphone jack, so you should just need a male to male cable, which you can get at Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc.

So let me get this straight

The jack that goes into my car's aux will be 1/8" stereo headphone jack

How about the one that goes into my Nexus 4? 3.5mm I guess

Correct - 3.5mm is the same as 1/8". The cables can be labeled either way. I bought one in Radio Shack recently and it was labeled as 1/8", but they also had some crazy colored ones that were labeled as 3.5mm.

Anyway, be aware that the aux in jack in your Yaris is not amplified so you need to crank up the volume on whatever device you plug in.

Exactly. Now they carry at least 10 different ones ranging from $9 to $25. The retractable ones are pretty handy:

Seems like both ends are same size jacks is this correct?

Also should choose one over another to improve sound quality or are they all same?

Correct - Both ends are the same. The difference in sound quality from one to another would be nil.

I needed one a long time ago and they used to be called line in cables or you could get them at Pc stores for the speakers going to the amplifie. The worst one I ever had to make work was using a 1/4 inch mic wire with 2 3.5mm adapters on either end lol.

My first CD player had two 3.5 mm out jacks, one was for headphones and powered, and the other one was labeled "line out" and unpowered because it didn't need to drive headphones and expect the system it got plugged into to provide power. Which the car stereos I had in the Europe of the '90s did. Advantage? You could keep the discman running on a pair of AAs for many more hours because it didn't need to provide an amplified signal, just a signal.

I guess that wouldn't work at all with the standard aux-in jack on a Yaris.

If you ever plugged a headphone into one of the "non powered" ports, you'd find that it is just the same as the headphone jacks but without volume adjustability. Ie, max volume.
