Hi all.
A simple question.
I have a 07 European Yaris sol (keyless) version.it was raining last week when I was going shopping so had to use my headlights and when I got out I didn't notice the headlights were still on, luckily it was just a short shop, anyway what a surprise for me to see my lights on when I returned to my car. My question is, is this normal for the lights to remain on after I have stopped the engine?
Many thanks for a reply.

Your question had already been answered when you asked it in another thread.

Was there a "lights on" warning beep to alert you?

Seems logical to me to have the lights turn off when the car is stopped and the engine is then turned off.
Subaru is the only manufacturer who incorporates this feature into their cars, every one else,if you leave your lights on? too bad

I was wondering this as well.

I know on my Yaris the headlights don't turn off when the ignition is switched off. Other than the clue of a large bright glow at the front of the car to warn me there is certainly a very loud beeping in addition. I have on occasion left the parking lights on by mistake and the beep has been useful for that.
I don't think I've ever owned a car where the lights switch off automatically with the engine/ignition.

What is not clear to me is this;

Did the OP actually leave his lights on, or is he talking about a courtesy light feature. I've seen some courtesy lights that I wonder if they're ever going to shut down.

" I was going shopping so had to use my headlights and when I got out I didn't notice the headlights were still on"

Seems to rule out the courtesy light.:wink:

The headlights stay on even without the engine running for the reason that during a worst day on the road when your car breaks down, it will be useful to have lights on for safety among others. So yeah it is weird toyota has this feature. LOLZ
