Engine rev limiter override

Hello:

I have a 2013 Yaris with a manual transmission. California emissions. Does anyone have any experience in attempting or successfully bypassing the rev limiter on this vehicle?

The Yaris ECM has a hard coded rev limit. To bypass it requires running a stand-alone ECM.

In some older yotas you could change out the crystal on the ecu. However I am fairly certain any attempt at a similar mod on these ECUs would be difficult and if possible probably mess something else up too since I always thought it chanfe the clock speed of the ECU... might not be the right term.
