I'm doing some custom wiring and need to remove the interior piece at the left knee, the little pocket piece to the left of the knee airbag. It currently houses the mirror position switch and the dimmer, and an extra empty space I'm going to use for a switch for footwell lighting.

I'm afraid of breaking a clip, but i cant seem to find a loose spot to even begin to pry.

Anyone have an idea?

I just bought a two day subscription to the toyota service manual thing, and STILL can't figure out how to take this out. Anyone have any experience removing interior trim pieces? I'm sure there is a tool i should be using, but don't have. I'm using a flathead screwdriver wrapped in painters tape.

The one with the 5 clips and two claws is the one I need help with.

The clips for that blank are best released by squeezing them from behind. If you can't get behind it, the clips are at the top and bottom, so you would have to get something very thin in there to release them.

Got it out finally! Bought an O-ring removal tool, came off easily!

Please delete/lock this thread.

I'll post some pics later when I've completed my projects!

On a side note, taking this piece off made wiring SO much easier/faster!
