I've had my Yaris 7 months, and I just noticed the other day that the fabric on the driver's seat is already showing some signs of fraying in 2 spots, prolly corresponding to my ass cheeks. Has anybody else had this happen? This really surprises me, since I've had cars that were 10-15 years old with seats in like-new condition.

My ass ain't that big, really. I guess I'll have to buy a seat cover to try to preserve the seat now. :iono:

The YARIS has pretty cheap seats (IMO), but that helps to cut down the cost. I am going to cover my seats when they get ugly and concentrate on maintenance to keep my MPG at the peak.

same here my interior is tan colors and it's suck, you can see all the stains on the seat. I'm thinking swapping it to Leathers, dealer charges me $750 for front and back plus the doors.

The day I bought my yaris sedan, I went to Wal Mart and bought seat covers for 20 bucks.....

Problem solved, whenever you have a vehicle with material seats, always use seat covers.... Helps resale value, nobody wants to buy a car with nasty seats.

I agree, but I have the airbags built into my seats, I can't find any covers for them at all.

Look around on the internet or at other stores for seat covers that work with seat airbags. I found mine at Kmart for $15. They stretch to fit and I think they look fine.

Only problem was with release lever on side of passenger seat--no hole for it, so I just cut one and burned the edges to stop fraying. I guess I could have gotten someone to sew the edge but didnt care.

Re. resale value, some people also replace or cover floor mats--hard to believe how much newer the car looks when you sell it with clean original mats...

No I just bought the regular black bucket seat covers, they fit fine.....

They were 19.99 for the Pair, I don't have a cover for my rear seat, I won't be driving many people around in this car so i'm not worried that much about back seat wear...

As far as cleaning the factory carpet floor mats, you would not believe how good a pressure washer works. It will take out any dirt and oil without a problem. The same thing applies to seats and interior carpets although they have to be removed. Use the soap first, then clean rinse. You can make 5-10 year old interiors look new, provided they don't have heavy wear. I did it on my Tacoma. My brother even washed the carpet/ fabric door panels on an 89' Land Cruiser. He just left the doors open a few days with the battery disconnected while it dried. It seriously looked like Cool Cruisers of Texas restored the interior.

Anyway, I'm glad I'm not the only person having this problem. I guess I'm off to Wal-Mart...

Just do what I did: order custom neoprene seat covers! They are coming in the mail to me now.

Those would be nice except for this part...

NO Seat-mounted Side Airbags Option

I don't understand why this is so hard to find. my seats don't look any different, the seams don't look different, WTF?

I think the fabric on the side is designed to be able to rip easily from the inside out. Cover it with a normal fabric, and the airbag will not be able to deply properly.
