Hey, I'm helping a friend with a small repair on her 2008 Yaris. A rattling noise developed after a pretty nasty front driver's side curb check, the source of which I believe I tracked down. When I was poking around the engine block, however, she put the car in reverse and the entire engine block shifted back 1-2 inches.

This is my first experience with a Yaris, and seeing the entire block move was surprising. A quick search yielded nothing... is this normal operating behavior, or might there be some engine mount trouble as well?

Thanks!

EDIT:

Oh, also, does anybody happen to have a higher-res image of the stock air intake and filter box for a 2008 Yaris? Something like this general area (http://img.youtube.com/vi/iss_29B5V0k/hqdefault.jpg), specifically where the air intake is attached via bracket around the first bend in the tube. Thanks again!

That is pretty normal. The Yaris has very compliant engine mounts to reduce vibration.

What was the question? I see Scott's reply, but it's the first post in the thread! :iono:

Oh, that is weird.

Basically, I'm doing a minor repair on a friend's 2008 Yaris. I noticed that the engine block shifted back a couple of inches when the car was put in reverse, and wanted to make sure that was normal and there wasn't damage to the engine mounts.

Also, if anybody has a high-def picture of the stock air intake on the '08, that would be much appreciated!
