... what do you guys think? Fuel up with 87 octane with 10% ethanol added, or fuel up with 91 octane pure gas? The 91 octane pure gas is about $0.50/gallon more.
I fueled up with 87 octane pure gas for the first time today (was in a different town somewhat far away) and man does the engine sound more quiet!
Unless you are racing just get the cheapest gas you can find. This car seems to work on anything. I hit 50 mpg on the crappiest gas in my area, and haven't been able to hit it again with other gas.

you will get better mileage with the ethanol free gas, but not enough to cover the $0.50 per gallon. even at 42 miles per gallon vs 38 miles per gallon, and at $3.50/gal vs $3.00, you'd get 12 miles per $1 vs 12.66 miles per $1. I cant imagine any performance benefit in a yaris.

The ethanol if you have a higher mileage vehicle may cause more dirt in the system.
It can break residue in the tank loose.
Personally, I stay away from it though it may cost a little less. I never figured it per mile

Only if the car is stock. If it is not stock then of course there could be reasons to run better gas. No one would put the cheapest 87 octane into Garm's old car.

Speaking of gas I was wondering when you guys gas your yaris does the pump stop often? Like when you put it in and gassing then it stops without you stopping it and the tank wasn't full yet... Sorry thank you if you guys can help!!!!!

Yes, I experience the same thing. I find the nozzle has to positioned in a certain position to prevent the auto stop back pressure system continuously releasing the trigger.
I've just learned to live with it,

correct. the ethanol loses some power (Joules) and more expensive fuel has more additives for cleaning. the octane is actually BS for the average consumer who doesnt change the engine's compression ratio. (octane=resistance to detonation/early combustion)

probably just a more sensitive venturi valve on the nozzle or our tanks have smaller-diameter filler necks. in most cases it doesnt signify anything wrong.
