Blenjar says he called Toyota and they said to cut. I'm still kinda surprised that Toyota told him to cut but apparently that is what they said. There are not different bump stops in the box.

There are not new bump stops in the box. Use your old ones. I asked my tech at Toyota here and he said to not cut the bumpstops. The shocks are designed to work with the factory bumpstops.

I would opt not to cut myself. However, this is something that there seems to be a big difference of opinion on.

No opinions. TRD's are a matched set, designed to work together. No bump stop cutting required.

Every other single spring ONLY change you make, needs the bump stop to be cut to their spec's when lower with STOCK ORIGINAL struts and springs.

Guys are talking out their ass on the topic, because they have no clue what they are talking about... again, like you said, "OPINION," not facts are being talked about.

I spoke to 3 Toyota Guys. 2 at Spark and 1 at my dealership. The one at my dealership has obviously a Toyota with TRD spring, his son too (xA). both cut the bump stop.

The Spark guys said they also cut the bump stop.
I cut mine too at the first U...ride is just low and bounces really smoothly...
Hey cut it or not, its koo..its probably a preference thing.

First, go learn the purpose of a bumpstop. It's not a "preference thing."

Blen here's an example, if say you did DF's and DIDNT cut the bumpstops, (as recomended by Tanabe) and just left them stock, your suspension is now 2" lower then stock, using stock struts.. with me? Now, that first big ol pothole you enter, or rut in the road, your suspension travel is now limited to how much it will compress, because the bumpstops will be the first to make contact. By cutting the bumpstop the recomended amount, your suspension will be able to compress enough to where the shocks/struts won't bottom out, but also to where every hard hit will be absorbed by your suspension.

Facts to keep in mind is, spring rate as every brand is different, and also how much weight is going to be in the car at times... extra people or just packing it full of supplies.

I have installed MANY suspensions over the years.. from static dropped spring kits, to full on air suspension's and lift kits.

Brands recomending cutting bump stops from my first hand experience, using stock struts and or shocks?

Yes, I e-mailed Tanabe just to see what response I got...

Me "I have a set of DF210 springs and I am getting ready to install them on my 2007 Toyota Yaris lift back. Would you recommend cutting the bump stops?"

Tanabe USA "I would cut 1" off the bump stop."

I'll probably just buy a set of the shorter bump stops that I saw recently because I would end up with a "hack job" attempting to cut mine.

by the way the car looks good! it will be interesting to see how much it settles but it looks like a healthy sporty kinda stock drop, probably will ride quite nice too, let us know what you think as you try it out

Brick - look in my DIY Spring How_To.

Cutting the bumpstops is CAKE! I used just a hacksaw blade, but a normal dinner knive will also make quick work of it.

I used your DIY to install my temporary set up and I'm sure I'll use it again this next time around made things very easy. Thanks.

I still might buy the shorter ones so I can keep the stock set. I might want to do something different later.

So if I plan on getting the TRD shocks and lowering springs, I won't need to cut my stock bumper-stops? I can leave them w/o any modifications?

What if I get the TRD shocks first and then lowering springs later on (I'd be using the stock springs or if the TRD shocks come with springs, those springs until I get the TRD lowering springs), would I need to cut the stock bumper-stops in that case?

If you don't change the springs, you don't need to cut the bump stops.

You can do it later when you put on your springs.

So do the TRD shocks come with those white springs I see in all the pics. I've seen of the shocks or is my dealer supposed to use my stock springs with the TRD shocks?

In either case (the white springs or the stock springs) they don't have to cut the bump stops right?

I plan on getting just the TRD shocks for now, then the TRD lowering springs and that $100 something bump stop kit I've seen in another thread here so that I won't have to cut the stock bump stops.

Which post? I just want to know for sure if the TRD shocks come with the white springs they're always pictured with:

If not, then I can use the stock springs w/ the TRD shocks and not have to cut the bump stops.

Later on when I get the TRD lowering springs, I'll also get this bump stop kit so I won't have to cut my stock bump stops:

Conicelli Toyota has the TRD shocks for the liftback for $304 with free shipping. That's a lot less than I paid.

Got my TRD spring, shock and strut package from Sparks. It was sold with red springs....TRD calls it the Sportivo package. Instructions included did not say to cut bump stops. If you get them, check the installation instructions. I am pretty sure you can just install the struts and shocks as a replacement but would not reap the rewards of the total package. Same applies to just the springs. As a further note...in the instructions TRD advises that the best results are obtained when the total package combined with a specific size wheel and tire combo are installed. I followed that except for the wheels and tires. Did it myself and have had no problems.

TRD's supplied instructions state nothing about modifying the bump stops.
I did use the FatCat Motorsport stops and spacers with the TRD shocks, springs and swaybar.
I am happy to report that all is working flawlessly and the new found handling exceeds my expectations.
