I really hate this new trend in OEM wheels. Yuck. And it's not just Toyota that's an offender.

I agree - most of the wheels I have looked at need to go away - they are all TOO busy, prefer the plain, 5 spoke alloys (like on the Yaris S) Plain, simple, sharp looking.

 I agree. When I saw them, some months back, on a white '15 SE owned/driven by a mature couple, I nicknamed them the 'Boy Wonder Wheels'.

They're actually pretty good looking, as long as the car is 1:64 scale with a die-cast body. And flames.

The Corolla S wheels are really ugly as well.

So true, never understood the appeal of those things.

I agree, even the Fit (Jazz) and and City (Jazz/Fit sedan) here have the same style.

I have even swapped my OEM multispoke/"mesh" with the older but simpler 5-spoke style of the pre-MMC Vios, but kept my rubber. Gunmetal may have worked for me, but not the complex design.

I agree. I saw a '14 Corolla S last summer in Pearl, MS without those wheels. I've only seen a few more without them since. Standard wheel covers and 'plain jane' alloys look much better. I'm wondering if they only are available without them if the purchase is a 'fleet' purchase.

 I'd see '70s versions of those on the streets of Oakland when parking for A's games, Raider games, Warrior games, and concerts. By the looks of the buildings...looks more like Texas or Louisiana.

I totally agree. While tastes are subjective, I bet a majority of people prefer a clean traditional silver, straight spoked wheel design. Not sure what automakers are thinking. Part of it I think is change for changes sake. If I bought a car that only came with such wheels, I'd have to sell them immediately at a loss and buy aftermarkets.

There is a guy here at my college in Texas that has those exact same rims on his accord. Those are God awful lol.

Yeah, they'd look even worse on an Accord. Perhaps he is trying to prompt people to not park on either side of his Accord :biggrin:.
