Hit by a Chevy SUV. Her Fault. Rear quarter panel damage, rear bumper and spoiler damage, rear axle beam bent.
Auto Nation Collision center estimate: $4,500 and change to repair. On her insurance's tab + a rental till it's fixed.

Rental: 2014 Yaris HB 4 door LE

Ugh, bummer. Glad you're alright and hope your Yaris is fixed quickly.

All done.
Looks spiffy. New bumper looks better than before the accident and the bumper protector is nicer than what was on it. They also fixed a small ding that was there before the accident just ahead of the accident damage. I give autonation collision center high marks.

Seems unfair in general that only the cost of the repair is covered. Accidents are forever part of a vehicle's history, seriously affecting resale value by a good fraction. But i guess that's life and s*it happens. I'm glad it got fixed and you can enjoy the car in the present, which is the important thing here.

By your cheerful attitude, it makes me wonder whose fault it actually was ;)

Ouch! Hey glad to see you back on here! I had the same brand of snow tires, one blew causing much damage.

I bought those tires used. Will be replacing them next winter with champiro icepros, which I have on the front.
I've already swapped out to my summer wheels.

In the state of Ga, insurance companies are required to pay "diminished value" after an accident to cover the lost value that you are speaking of. My wife did 10k damage to a fairly new car once, it was her fault, and a couple week after the car was repaired, we got a check in the mail for the diminished value of the car with a wreck on it's history report.

Is it pretty easy to go to a good body shop and get the OEM S trim body kit pieces if you need/want them (even for a non-S Yaris), since they obviously need access to the parts in order to fix autos that have been in accidents?

Yes. But the interior is different too, at least on the `08. Including different seats.

The impact is very big. I hope that the insurance company paid you the entire amount of money. I had a similar case, a taxi hit me while my car was parked. I can call this experience a life-changing one. I had a lot of headaches with the insurance company. But, luckily I hired an auto injury lawyer (https://www.1866hirejoe.com/) that helped me to resolve all the questions with them. It's very efficient if you work with a lawyer in such cases. I got my money very fast on the bank account and fixed the car in a week. Anyway, we must be more attentive on the roads.

@wallaby, what did the auto injury lawyer actually do?
