2007 Yaris hatchback with automatic transmission.

This is under the engine where the engine meets the transmission, on the engine side. Looks like a plastic cover that's leaking oil. Not sure what is behind it. Hopefully it is easy to fix.

Did you ever find out what this leak was about ? My wife's 2007 Yaris just started leaking in the same spot.

That is a window that allows you to inspect the clutch or pressure plate. It is also a way to show you have a main seal leak so the oil doesn't just pool in that area (sort of like a wrap hole on a water pump).

Its likely that the main seal is leaking oil

That is interesting, I never knew that there is this inspection hole there. Shall I just pry that rubber off with a screwdriver and peek in? How can I recognize that the pressure plate or the flywheel are bad?

Iirc it's plastic and you cannot realy tell if the pressure plate is bad per say but you will be able to see if the main seal is leaking which would be from behind the pressure plate
