I am not sure what you mean by "amt pin", but you likely popped one of the large fusible links on the positive battery terminal.

I checked them and still intact. I have no hazards, turn signals interior lights gage clusters and wont start.

Check 30a power fuse.good. checked all mini's under steering column.good checked all fuses in engine compartment.good.

Have no radio either.

That exactly what I did. Temporary fix to get down the road?

For the things that are out, it is almost definitely the 60A MAIN fuse on the positive battery terminal.

Temporary fix is tough. You could pop the clear cover over the link and solder it back together as a very temporary fix.

Your the man Scott. I over looked the fuseable link. Blown.

So I got the new fuseable link today. Put it in started the car. Got no blower fan airbag light on. Checked battery voltage while running. Volts dropping and alternator isn't kicking in. Checked 7.5 alt-s fuse. Fuse good. Checked 40 htr block fuse. Looks good. The amt slot is open with one pin in it. That the one I accidentally hit with ground when I was trying to aim my new headlights. Did I fry alternator? Seems to be the issue but want to make sure.

The things that are not working run off the other fusible link on the block (120A ALT). Take a peek to see if that guy popped when you replaced the block.

Thats the one beside the 60A main right? That one was intact. Took alternator out and having it tested today to see if I fried her. Is the voltage regulator integrated in alternator itself or seperate from it?

Ive got power down to alternator via cable. 120 alt fusable link not popped. Alternator just not kicking on. Rechecked all fuses. None blown.

Alternator tested good.

Ok. So I put alternator back in. Checked the voltage with out blower fan running and it charges. As soon as I turn knob to kick on blower fan voltage dropa which is normal. But fan doesn't work and alternator isn't kicking in to compensate for draw. Both fuses and fusable link good. All other accessories work normal. Just no blower motor and draw.

How far does the voltage drop with the fan on?

Innovative 1
03-13-2015, 09:23 PM
Not too far. 12.5 V range initially the over about 10 mins at idle voltage drops down to where it kills car. Blower doesn't blow air when switched on. Another thing I noticed is the battery light flickers a couple times upon start up the shuts off. Airbag light comes on at times upon start up and usually stays on when it does.

The alternator should be putting out at least 13.5 volts, even with the AC fan on. I would definitely say that you have a bad one.

Saw your thread on resetting airbag. Haven't gotten the chance to reset yet.

Why isn't my fan turning on?

It could be that you have another fuse out, or it could just be that the voltage is two low to spin it up.

The fuse panel cover inside the car under steering wheel has diagram of two acc 7.5 a fuses along with 30A power fuse and one other. Their all intact. The cover says BM in that section. They mean the ones in front by wiring harnesses? Wondering what that AMT pin is still inside fuse box in engine compartment. Any ideas?

By AMT, are you referring to the H-LP/AMT relay socket in the small relay box opposite the fuse box under the hood?

The AC system has one 7.5A fuse for the AC ECU, a 40A HTR fuse for driving the fan and a 40A HTR1 and a 30A HTR2 fuse for the PTC heater.

None of those would make your alternator output as little as it is.

Sorry man. Just read back a little. Alternator is putting out normal voltage when engaged. Just when I switch dial for blower it drops to around 12.5V and blower doesnt blow

That is still way too low under load.

http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9473 Its not a relay socket. Its an open with pin. There is a pic of it here on this thread. Its the slot on right at end of mini's.

That's an unused un-switched fuse socket with an input pin that is powered directly from the battery (via the 60A MAIN fuse) and with no output pin (hence only one pin).

Right - That's what popped the original fusible link that was blown.

I would triple check and just in case replace the ALT-S 7.5A fuse and the 7.5A MET fuse in the under-dash fuse panel.

After checking those, measure the voltage on the small pink wire connected to the alternator. If you see 0 volts on that wire, then you definitely damaged the internals of the alternator.

Will do. Your knowledge of these cars is pretty impressive. I want to thank you for all the help and guidance your giving me. Really appreciate it.

That did it. What does that fuses tie into?

Alt-S feeds the voltage regulator on the alternator a reference voltage.

MET feeds the charging indicator on the instrument cluster.
