I was just wondering, i have the MI crank pulley and i believe i've had it on for about 3 years running now. It runs great but how long do you guys think it was last? I pretty much drive the car normally but i do get on the car every once in awhile haha. I wonder if i should get another one before garm runs out of them.

We made that pretty beefy, I haven't heard of one breaking yet (unless Jason killed one)

Awesome Garm! It's not like I race my car either but I do get on the pedal here and there haha! The product is still awesome! I'm still a happy customer! Thank You Again!

I just installed one to replace the broken NST pulley. I've been running with the stock pulley for about 3 weeks now, so I could really feel the difference. I went to pull out of the shop this afternoon and chirped the tires (yes, both of them) on accident. Pulls like a dream once again, so I'm a happy customer.

What does this mod really do for the car?

Lighter load on the crank, car revs up quicker.

What Wee said, but a few additional notes:
Increased drivetrain efficiency from reduced rotating mass--does not add horsepower to your engine, just reduces the amount spent turning the pulley, making a net gain in wheel hp (not brake hp)
Faster RPM drop when off-throttle
Additional noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) from removal of rubber insert on OEM pulley, your results may vary
This is probably documented elsewhere on the site/web, but it doesn't hurt to put it in the thread since the question comes up frequently.

Another myth some people believe is that you will gain hp because of weight reduction. In reality the difference in weight is only 38 oz (aprox. 1kg). It's really nowhere near enough to create a significant performance difference.
What you will get however is a faster climb towards the engine's peak power curve alowing for higher acceleration due to less torque being required to drive the engine accesories.

Didn't kill one, but I think I only had it on there one weekend. Call me gun-shy after two previous issues. I know the OE one is good to 7500rpm.

Just curious, what issues did you have with these lightweight crank pulleys?

Shortly after upgrading our ECU, allowing us to rev past 6500rpm, they started failing.
The NST one split in two around 7000rpm. The BeatRush unit had some weird harmonics and beat up the crank pin. Just was not willing to risk a third.
This was about six months old, less than 1000 miles, I think the second time was ran the car with the higher rev limiter.

Thanks for the info! If you were to keep it at stock rev limiter then I assume these crank pulleys should last for a while.

With little experience I have (one week and 300 miles) I'll say on my 5spd its a subtle but noticeable change. Much less throttle input is needed for the 3rd to 4th to 5th changes.
The best example is matching speeds of traffic for freeway onramps. You are up to 65 to 70 MPH before you realize it.

All I can say is that I've had the entire NST pulley set on for ~8 years and it's been nothing short of amazing.

3+ years and about 25,000 miles on mine with no issue. As others have mentioned, it should last as long as the car.
