Trying to make sense of 8J.
From what I can gather, the 8 represents wheel width in inches, and the J has something to do with the tyre bead.
So the basic issue is will 15x8 fit. Yes they will provided that you are dealing with a wheel that has a reasonable offset value, and are 4x100 of course.

I think it also depends on what tires you plan on putting on them, and what kind of driving you're doing. Most of the 15x8 info I've found on this site were super-stretched tires with lots of negative camber and rolled fenders. If you're on stock springs, and don't plan on driving it hard, you can probably get away with 215 wide tires. If you're slammed (2" or more drop) and/or plan on autoX or track days, you're going to want something narrower than 8". If the offset (ET) isn't high enough, you will either rub against the suspension, or have an increased turn radius to prevent rubbing the wheel wells.
For comparison, I ran 15x7 ET42 wheels with BFG Rival 205/50R15's (they're REALLY wide for a 205) on MI springs and would touch the lip of the fender on hard cornering in AutoX before I added more negative camber. They also rubbed the wheel well on full lock turns.

OP, search 15x8 and you will see quite a few examples of 15x8 with various offsets and tyre widths. Granted these are Gen2, but Gen1 is essentially the same.
