Just ordered one this morning along with vis front bumper last week. Had a deer t-bone my passenger side door and rear quarter panel. Gonna repaint the whole car and doing front bumper and hood ta boot. Going with the same paint scheme as echo_hrs'. Trying not to copy him but that set up is sweet.
Didn't spring for carbon fiber. Went with fiberglass instead.
Thanks for insight. Cant wait to get that thing painted and installed.

After you get it installed, you will now become and even more larger magnet to Racoons, Deer and other obstacles that are unavoidable

He doesn't have the car anymore. So it doesn't matter really.

The fitment on that Kaminari hood was one of the best I've seen for aftermarket carbon fiber. Hope the fiberglass fits just as well.
Since you are trying to replicate the look, I take it you went for the JDM RS Style replica from vis. Let us know how that works out. Bumper fitment across all aftermarket brands has always been hit and miss.

You painting out the mid section of the bumper to get the look of the bumper garnish echo_hrs had installed there?

What do you mean by bumper garnish? Want that look with cowl black and rest boyou blue which is my main color. Gonna have them spray the bumper the same as his too. Where he painted the section in between lower and upper grill black. Dont care if im being unoriginal. It looks sic!

The bumper garnish is an actual piece that goes in the mid section. This is not paint. Prior to this vehicle, he had an '06 Copper Orange Mica with the Kaminari hood on it, and the JDM Vitz RS bumper. On that car, he used vinyl wrap to black out the mid section. With the '10 Blizzard Pearl, he went true JDM with the garnish.

The black portion of his hood is the carbon fiber left in its natural state. You will have to paint it out given you went with fiberglass.

Wow! That middle black section of front bumper garnish cost more than the front bumper itself.

Yeah WeeYari. I ordered the jdm rs style replica bumper from vis. I hope it will come to me up here in Montana in one unmolested uncracked or scared piece. Carriers up here can be a little ruff on merch in transit.

I ordered the jdm rs style replica bumper from vis.
If this bumper is a true replica in every way, you will need to replace the front end crash bar. New bumper will not clear OEM crash bar.

I'm really curious about the VIS bumpers also. Can't bring myself to pay the freight for a real RS bumper from overseas, so please let us know how much trouble it is to make fit.
Pics also please!

You just have to replace the two bumper bracket arms, you can keep the stock USDM crash bar beam.

Kinda expensive because of shipping, but I think you can source them thru japanparts.com. Just have to figure out the part #s. I'm sure someone who has done the conversion on here will chime in with part #s.

Got the bumper garnish. Came pre painted. Didnt say what the color code is though. Was thinking it would come primed and would have to paint it. I want to use the color it came as for my cowl section but rdhjapan.com hasnt responed to my inquiry.

How well does the garnish fit on the replica bumper?
Edit your spelling again. It is rhdjapan.com not rdhjapan.com. I can't even find the garnish on that site.

Forgive me if this question has been answered before. I've seen lots of bumper replacement threads where the crash bar needs to be replaced. I've often considered replacing my front bumper, but as the car get pulled behind a motor home, I need every bit of clearance between the lower grill and the bumper. What does replacing the crash bar do in terms of changing the clearance between the lower grill and bumper?

The whole reason for it is because the JDM and/or Euro RS bumper covers are shorter than the US ones. So if you try to put a JDM or Euro bumper cover on a US production car without replacing the brackets and/or crash bar, the bumper cover won't fit.
It probably has to do with the differences in NHTSA safety requirements of US production car over other countries. In the US, we get the fat ugly bumpers.

Crash bar fits vis rs bumper. Just had to get the shorter impact brackets.
