Hi. I'd like to do an oil change on my newly acquired 2010 Yaris 1.3 but discovered Toyota have changed the oil filter from the standard screw in type to a paper cartridge one. I've already bought the special tool for removing the filter body but the new paper cartridge came in a box with what I assume are 2 rubber seals and an odd looking small clear plastic pipe. I would be very grateful if anyone can tell me the correct procedure on how to change this filter and what these seals and bits of plastic are for. Thanks

We don't have this engine here in the States...except in the iQ.

Im surprised T has the feature on the 1.3! Very inconvenient!

Good Heavens this is an "Eco-friendly" design! How they figure its "greener" than a standard spin on oil filter I cant imagine. :iono: Its still a spin on filter but you just change the element in the housing. Oh yeah this ought to keep the rise in water level globally to just 79 feet instead of 80. God help us if this ever gets to the 1.5 engine!

Of course I'll never have to deal with it. This Yaris is my last car then I will die.
