Hey all, 1st post, and glad to be here.

I have an issue with the low beam being used for the DRL. I can either unplug the DRL relay, but would prefer to switch it to the parking light (orange one) Any tips on how to make this happen??
Thanks in advance all!

These types of posts are like a Bat Signal to CT Scott...he's the resident engineering guru and should be able to help...

I am wondering if it would not be in the steering column by the relay for the DRL??

CTScott, any ideas Sir??

I am in Germany on business and don't have the wiring diagrams with me.

Looking at the wiring diagrams for the 2012+ liftback, the DRL is far more integrated than it was for the 2nd gen Yaris.

For the 3rd gen the body ECU commands the module via the green wire. The DRL module is the direct output to the low beams, so pulling the module would eliminate low beams (unless you then jumped the black wire in pin 1 and the red wire in pin 5 to the black wire in pin 6 to bypass it).

If you really want to drive something else as the DRLs I would recommend trying the snipping of the green wire and if indeed that turns off the DRLs, then I would feed the other thing chosen as DRL from an ignition switched power feed.

Thanks CT, may try that this wknd. I'll reply back when I have completed it!

OK, so I have not yet gotten around to the wiring, but I needed tires. He had some 16 & 17", but they were not a good fit/look for what I wanted. I did find some 18s that with a 215-35/18 on them were almost dead on with the stock size. I have full clearance, no offset needed, and looks good.

COST FROM PEPBOY'S, CUSTOM MADE $87

seat of the pant test, good gain in pickup an hp, MPG improved.

Using a Spectre Cone filter, 6.5"w x 7.5"l

removed all stock parts except oil breather line & MAF sensor which is new.

Removed battery for 5 min to reset ECM.

Check engine light will come on if I rev it sitting still, but as of now, has not done while driving. The throttle mech seems to be almost completely electric..??

MAYBE TOO much air??

What size MAF tube did you get? Possibly i am mistaken but did you say you bought a new MAF? From the threads on here, too large a MAF tube will throw a code, that's possibly what's causing yours.

3" vs a 2.5 in I think...

OK, had a 1/2" x1/2" reducer ring, inserted into the MAF tube, butted up against the sensor, disconnect NEG for 3 min, start & idle for 5 min, and then drive. Floored it 3 times...no CEL. Thanks Hatch!!! :respekt: :burnrubber:

WAY more pull, not supercharger, but much improved!

RWJC

ok, not so quick, now the CEL is on, but the Trac off light did not come on, so there is an improvement. Going to pull the code in the morning..maybe a little more reduction around the MAF

UPDATE: put a smaller cone filter, no CEL as yet, and went short ram (sri). still have hp gains..trying to figure out mpg vs speed and gain/loss..

As of today, CEL & TRAC Off are both on even with smaller cone filter. The new MAF sensor still emits a code. Based on research, will take a thick 2" OD hose and stick inside the 3"OD pipe where the MAF sensor is to mimic the exact size original OEM Air box. Will test that today.

Definitely keep us updated, if the smaller MAF hose doesn't fix it someone else might have different ideas to getting your Yaris running right,

Well, went a different route...put the OEM setup from intake hose to airbox back on. The OEM filter needed to be replaced, so I cut the entire center out. put the MAF back in the OEM housing. Ran my 3" flex hose from the bottom of the OEM box, back under to behind the front driver fog light. I used the large cone to let more air into the system.

Drove 50 miles.

1) Check engine light NEVER came on.
2) Does not sound as good.
3) Lost the HP gain I had.
4) Unsure of MPG effects.

SO if anyone who has 17" rims or larger with a STOCK intake, can post their MPG @:
25-
45-
55-
70-

I would be appreciative. Also, specify city & state you are in. I will run like this for 2-3 days, and record my MPG at those speeds. Then compare.

If no Issues, I will try to locate a 2" or 2.5" MSF aftermarket tube.

I get 38 to 45 mpg with my rotiforms on. they're 17x8. they're also really frigging heavy which does not help lol.

RWJC

had an idea...i looked at the OEM airbox where the MAF sits, took measurements, and then too PVC 2" coupling. I foil taped the PVC to protect it and make it more aerodynamic. Inserted it into the MAF 3" housing and reduced it to the OEM 2" measurement. After I drilled the PVC to allow the MAF to sit in the tube, retaped and reconnected. Start was rough, but the computer calibrated and idled very smoothly, better than the OEM box oddly enough. Went and drove 15 miles, but waited till the very end before I floored it. No lights...

As you can tell, I cant stand to have a problem unsolved.

what code was saved?

I think you got too much air, motor runs leaner, you got more power, but on reving, your enging gots too lean -> Error.

UPDATE:

bought a CAI on Amazon that is 2.5" and the MAF sensor never tripped. It seems so far at 100mi the ECU seems to be learning the new intake. Sounds really good with the resonating tip. Got several compliments on it today. it causes the Air filter to sit right behind the front bumper on the driver side.

MPG seems to have improved drastically of the 3" tube. looks like HP seems to have dropped somewhat, but I'll take the better MPG. If I want HP, I'll get a supercharger. LOLz

Loving the traction on the wheels/tire package. I'll continue to post updates as they happen.
