Yaris Revenge

Can you believe this thing is built on the Yaris platform? Not quite as car-like, but it looks incredibly more refined. Price guesstimates over at Scionlife.com seem to be around $14k. Release is this September.

Kinda reminds me of a Dodge Caliber. I don't like it. At all.

I have to agree. Extremely ugly. I'm also not a fan of the xB which this seems to be trying to lean towards. It's like the top half of the xA and the bottom half of the xB.

i think it'll look good modded, like that gold Five Axis xD.

I'm really hoping the pics are making it seem bigger than it is. The last thing we need is another mini-SUV.

Don't worry, it's only 4" longer than the Yaris. The high belt line and hood make it look bigger. Those are 16" wheels (on the link... the pic I posted above is sporting 19s, I think...).

Well that's a relief. Not a fan of the styling myself, but at least it's not getting too much bigger than the cars they have out now.

aside from the styling,
it is as good as having a ts yaris here in the states...
(canadian now will be jealous of us, their rs won't be the best anymore)
and better options and accessaries...

thanks for the wallpaper,
with the big enough picture,
now i understand what they were talking about,
the counter clockwise odometer...

yeah, don't worry guys,
the new scion might look like the caliber, but it's not at all similar to it...
afterall, the caliber is the same platform as the new lancer, which is a class bigger than the yaris platform scion...
however, the xd will be getting the 1.8 l engine... same amount as the base caliber... you never know, with the lighter body, the xd might out perform the upper class caliber...

better way to think of the xd... a buff up yaris...

I like the modded up version. Hate the base unit.

I'm thinkin of crashing one with my buddies 89 RAM SC with a real "ramming bumper" at the side when it arrives at September, and then buy the engine and I'll buy a Yaris! to swap the xD engine with!

Or I can just get an xD or import a German Yaris TS here to the US, do a 2.0L bore then do a Turbo setup so I can eat those SRT-4s and stock EVOS alive:biggrin: !

disgrace design..... thou still much better than the dodge...

Yeah, I really WANT to like it, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself. It certainly has some good aspects, but overall it's just really not very pretty.

Still better looking than the Fit (IMO), which is one of its primary targets.

You get a nice load of goodies for the $, compared to the yaris... but the XA was really the same way.

I couldn't see myself driving it over a yaris, but I can see ALOT of folks choosing it instead of the yaris.

One great thing, though, being built on a yaris platform, it will open up the aftermarket... and give us lots of new stuff to play with, at least, stuff that is at least similar.

more info...
http://pressroom.toyota.com/search?st=kw&criteria=MY08+scion+xd

the only thing bothers me... the mpg...
manual 27/33
auto 26/32

while for corolla,
manual 32/41
auto 30/38

they are both 1.8 liter engine... (i don't know if they are the same)
why the corolla gas mileage is much better...?

Yaris Revenge

Notice that their mileage ratings don't say "EPA"... seems like on Scionlife someone mentioned that that was false information because the EPA hadn't actually done any tests for it yet, and no one's really sure how those other numbers were calculated. Dunno, really. If they do wind up being accurate, it'd have to be related to gear ratios... maybe it's a pocket rocket!

Y'know what's kinda' disturbing about the xD's design? It has practically no front bumper... it's all gaping holes. There's hardly any space at all to pack the styrofoam. That means little "fender benders" are gonna cost a fortune to repair, 'cuz it'll probably affect the crumple zones immediately.

Maybe we'll get the Yaris T-Sport for '08 as a 2-door counterpart to this 4 door (fingers crossed)! :frown:

i don't know... i do see pretty gigantic front bumper...
which picture lead you to conclude that...?

afterall... it is 4 inch longer than the yaris,
if it has no bumper, yaris could be worse...

Dunno. Just seems like that's not much between someone's rear and the expensive stuff under the hood... the yellow area is the only structural part of that massive front end. Keep in mind that the pics ALL make the xD look bigger than it is... for all intents and purposes, it's the same size as the Yaris.

And I agree, the Yaris is probably just as bad.

yeah... yaris owners should be the ones worrying about it more...
(trying to find a yaris picture with same angle for comparison)

one of the reasons i think that the xd reminds people of caliber,
is because there are some suv characters involved in xd...
and i think the bigger front bumper is one of them...

we are talking about the new scion xd here,
and i said the xd is as good as the yaris ts,
at least they both have the same engine...

it looks wider than Yaris.
from the specification... xd is couple inches wider, 4 inches longer than the yaris... rest of the dimentions are the same...
