April 2015 Toyota Yaris sales were up 48.5% compared to April 2014, moving 2,153 cars. Year-to-date Yaris sales are up 33.7% with 7,477 cars sold in 2015.
Toyota Prius c sales are down 1.3% moving 3,523 cars; year-to-date sales are unchanged and 12,402 Prius c models have been sold this year.
And for anyone that's counting, Scion iQ sales are down 62.8% and they sold just 73 of them. Year-to-date sales are down 61.2% with a total of 305 units moved.
Full subcompact car sales can be seen here:

^^^^^ It's too bad this refresh is only for 1 year here. Is the 2016 'Mazda 2 clone' something that is only being done in North America?...In other words, will the 2015 refresh be sold a bit longer in a few other markets?

Unfortunately, Yaris sales are still sad even with that sort of % jump.
The Yaris is stuck solidly between the cheaper Nissan Versa and the more-expensive/plush Honda Fit, with one subcompact shopper type always going for the cheapest subcompact car they perceive as quality (or Nissan brand-loyalists), and the other going for the one with the best 'paid advertising' buzz and what they perceive as the most modern/snazzy interior for a car in this class (or die-hard Honda brand loyalists). Toyota, on the other hand, seems to go out of its way to hide/downplay the existence of the Yaris from the American consumer, lol.
I only see one or two Yaris of any year on my daily morning or evening commute to/from work (Phoenix, AZ), and those are almost always 2006-2011 Yaris hatchbacks or sedans (and usually always the same exact ones on their commute). I very rarely ever see the 2012-2014 Yaris, and only a few SE's total from that period. I have seen only two or three total 2015 Yaris on the road since they hit our shores, and have yet to see an SE from 2015. I see a multitude of various Versa and Fit models, however, from all model years, and a TON of ugly new Corollas and Civics daily (I would buy a 2011-2013 Corolla before I ever dreamed of buying a 2014+ one).
Also, if you check sites like cargurus.com, many Yaris have been on the car lot collecting dust for well over 200 days already. On the bright side, I should be able to wrangle a good deal for my SE in August because they have been sitting for so long at the dealerships and it is coming upon the end of the 2015 model year. I'm still deciding if I want to buy an automatic SE local, or buy one from Utah/etc. in manual and have it shipped to me, since they are impossible to get locally. The first change I will make to a new SE will be to remove those horrible-looking alloys (except on the black Yaris), replace them with something I like better, and then sell the stock 2015 OEM alloys to whoever finds them attractive, lol. My idea of a good-looking wheel for the Yaris is something like this:

Where did you read that the 2015 Yaris refresh would not extend into 2016 here in the USA/Canada?
The Mazda2 re-badge is going to be a (very ugly) Scion iA here in the USA, and sold as a Yaris Sedan in Canada. As far as I know, Mazda isn't going to re-badge the hatchback version of their latest "Kodo" Mazda2, but since they don't sell the Mazda2 sedan in the USA/Canada anyway (sadly enough), I guess they decided to make some money off of it as a re-badge instead.

I thought I included the word hatch in that sentence . The Scion iA is the Yaris SEDAN in Canada. The Scion iM is a much simpler Lexus CT200h, and is badged otherwise on other continents. The 2016 Yaris hatch for the U.S. (thought at one point to be here for 2015) will be built in the 'Mazda 2 plant' in Mexico. There are past Yarisworld threads on this subject with links. Here is a link from an internet search I just did. Called 'Subcompact Toyota' in the title, it is referred to as a Yaris in the article.

What Kalispel says is starting to make sense, though. Especially with Toyota's conservative approach to gdi.

 Possibilities re 2016 for the USA ranked in the order I prefer:
1. Hatchback refreshes from 2015 carry over to 2016 model year
2. Toyota 'rebadges' Mazda 2 hatchbacks assembled in Mexico
3. Number 2 directly above, but also change name designation from Yaris to ?
4. Hatches and Yaris model designation disappear :frown:

But....Toyota spent some coin on both the 2015 refresh and the whole French switch. More than 12 months and 20,000 units would justify.

 Let's hope so! If, at the end of that run, the SE = still available with the new all black seats and rest of the interior (), and a manual, in white or silver....I'd be tempted.

See the link 428CobraJet found today (linked article is dated today) and posted (post #9) to his 'Test drove a Fit, Mirage, Yaris' thread (3rd Gen section) that confirms the Yaris will essentially be 'a Mazda 2', built alongside the Mazda 2 at Mazda's plant in Mexico.

^^^^^ We posted the same minute. I wonder if it will definitely be for the 2016 model year? The article doesn't specify a model year.

Gawd, I hope the 2016 model stays as is. I'm in a 3 yr lease until July 2016 with an Avalon Limited. Beautiful car, but I have a thing for the Yaris, having owned one. I should have never traded. I thought I wanted a nice luxury car, but I'm not a fancy guy. If the Yaris remains as is, I will happily but a 2016 come July of that year.

If they would just put the 5spd MT in U.S. model Scion IQ. It would sell much better. Do you hear me Toyota USA?

You won't have to worry about that. The model is dead after MY2015. And with an industry average take rate of just 6% for manual transmissions, I don't think having a manual would've made much of a difference (look at Smart).
That being said, if I could've gotten an iQ with a stick shift, I probably would've.
