I'm considering a G1W-H Hidden Dashboard Dash Cam for $61 ON Amazon. Any feedback on these or better suggestions for this price range?

I prefer the all in one, DVR in rear view mirror. I have it running when parked because I have been victim of two hit and runs. Gouged and cracked bumpers. Dual cameras, the rear one I use all the time to display what's behind me (blind spot)
And I run a gopro hero 4 on the dash as well.

thank you. However, my mirror has other functions built in and i don't want to give them up.

i understand, the one i have clips onto the oem, not a huge fan of this approach, but it works. And main thing is no one would suspect the mirror is also a dvr with a camera. so i keep my front two windows, (hatchback) cracked to get outside audio. only thing i need is a camera inside.
few years ago, my car got broken into, and only thing i found missing was a friggin rubik cube....wtf. so im happy to pay $100 total with sd card to catch stuff.

I have the older G1W in my Yaris. Works great. Nice clear 1080p video, works pretty well at night also. I've got an old 4gb micro SD card in it. It holds about 40 minutes of video. I have mine set to cycle every 10 minutes and delete files as the card fills up.

I would like to buy a couple for better coverage and be able to record while parked at places too.

I've thought about running mine directly off the battery so it was on all the time, I've just not done it. Mine's got a 120 degree lens, so it easily picks up all 6+ lanes and some to the side of an interstate. I think the newer ones have 140 degree.

Indeed. I'd like to get a rear facing one as well. Do you have any ideas for a better permanent mounting solution than the suction cups? I hate suction cups.

Think so. Lemme hit up my machinist. I plan on buying at least one of the cameras within the next week so then that way I have it for my trip down to Texas the middle of June. that way I will have something for him to be able to create a template off of.

Cool man, making some sort of mounting plate or some such jazz was what I was thinking as well, but I wasn't real sure how to go about it.

I do have a mill, so I could in theory get a big hunk of plastic and mill out some sort of mounting system to hook on the rear view mirror or something, I've just been too lazy to dink with it. Shoot I still haven't installed that disk brake kit or the F/IC I've had for however many years, lol.

47.
I've posted a link to my RD mount post, I took the idea from shaggyone at planet-9
http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40818&highlight=radar+mount
I got one of these,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BICYCLE-REFLECTOR-SET-RED-AND-WHITE-SAFETY-REFLECTORS-WITH-BRACKETS-/261868299521?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cf8912501
And had some thin aluminum stock in the shop, fabricated and new arm into the RD and mounted the RD off my RVM stem.
I hate anything "stuck" on my windshield
Perhaps something like that would work for the cam, of course you could always get one of these,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Windshield-Mini-3M-Double-Sided-Tape-Mount-Holder-for-Universal-Car-Camera-/121453725749?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c4734c835
Been wanting a dash cam myself, but it would have to be up behind my RVM for me.
I'm thinking of a couple of different mounts, something that can be easily detached. I may have to branch off my RD mount.

Something like your rig off the rear view mirror is exactly what I was thinking. I use a RAM mount for my GPS/cell phone/etc. because I also hate having things stuck to the window. I've got one of these RAM mounts in my car, my truck, and on my mountain bike. Flipping awesome things these.

I've got some spare bike reflectors somewhere. I'll have to see if I can modify one of those to suit my needs.

The newer ones also have a motion detection feature, so you can record after you park. Might try that with mine, the buttons can be a little wonky at times.

I've got a A118C dashcam which I would recommend. I've mounted it on the passenger side, however it's not even due to pointing towards the passenger side instead of driver. I'm planning on hardwiring the dashcam soon. I'm planning on setting it to ignition on instead of 24/7.

Meaning when you're parking and backing up you have reference to where you're at to where the objects are distance wise obviously the higher the resolution numbers the better and clearer the picture will be they are very useful
