i changed my belt at about 128000km. It was dried and cracked, and at the priced it cost at the parts store, i just changed it myself. I got a goodyear gatorback.

I changed mine at around 85,000km just for preventive maintenance. It is not expensive at all and changing it at a mechanic will take less than 10min... So obviously labour won't be expensive

OP is asking dealer cost for install. Flat rate or job pricing at North American dealerships. There have been some dealer quotes provided on this site. They are outrageous for what the job actually is. At job pricing, the minimum you'll pay for is 30 minutes. Dealerships running typically in the area of $100/hr, that's at least $50 plus materials.

If I remember correctly the dealer is around $100 give or take. My mechanic changed my Echo's serpentine belt+power steering belt 4 years agowhile he was changing a coil pack and only charged an extra $40.

If you have any sort of basic mechanical ability it is very easy and quick to do yourself. Otherwise go to an independent mechanic.

If you do it yourself avoid using the OCV as leverage to tension the alternator.

I changed mine at 130,000km since I was already installing an oil catch can. It had the typical small cracks along it but it could have gone at least another 10,000km no problem. I likely won't change mine again until I hit 300,000km checking on it every so often

I had mine changed at just over 207,000 miles (only time). I bought the belt at a Toyota dealer (same one used when purchasing the control arm bolts), and had the same outside shop install the belt (also under $30).

I change mine every 100,000 miles, whether it needs it or not. I've changed it twice and never had an issue.

Dealer quoted me $ 165.00 for an unsolicited belt change when I was in for recall work and oil change. I said no thanks, but thanks anyway.

When I got home I checked it, a few cracks, ( I think I read or heard somewhere 7 cracks per inch time to change, or perhaps I just dreamt it after having spicy food for dinner) anyway a few cracks, minimum glazing, and no fraying and grooves still deep.

it's always good to change it before it breaks and leaves you stranded. mine looked like it was still in good condition but I changed it myself at around 80k miles, just use a good brand.

I replaced at 40'000 km, preventively. Engine runs quite often and I drive north often during the harshest winters. Always genuine Toyota made in Japan part. I always service or replace preventively, a policy I've adapted from Japanese culture through a Japanese friend of mine. The only part I've had to replace due to unanticipated wear are my front control arm bushings.

I've been driving my yaris hatchback since 2009 and have driven a little over 204,000 kms. Although the car is working fine, but I've started to feel that the speed acceleration is now getting painfully slow and braking is not as smooth as it used to be.

My question is that is it time to sell my vehicle mainly due to the KMS or can I still drive it? My daily commute is about 100KMs+/-. Has anyone driven their hatchback for these many KMs or more?

Some people told me that my vehicle (yaris hatchback 2008) doesn't come with a drive belt - there's only a chain that doesn't need to be replaced. Is this true? I've never gotten neither this belt/chain nor the steering wheel stuff replaced. Should I get them replaced?

I swapped mine out at 80,000 miles. It had all sorts of little cracks. A cheap bit of insurance to swap it out earlier than later.
