Hey guys...
Am I the only one that gets the impression that Toyota is selling billions of new Corolla S'? Everywhere I go I feel like I'm surrounded by them. You'd think I had my own Corolla S rolling escort!

Yes, I notice a ton of them everyday. I really don't like the Corolla S front end and alloy wheels.

36,768 Corollas were sold last month alone. That's 441,216 a year. Unfortunately, I don't know the breakdown of models.

I see a ton of the latest generation Corollas all over the place here in Phoenix, and about half of them are the 'S' version. I hate the new look (and alloys). Something just looks off (and cheap) with the body lines, curves, and proportions. The 2011-2013 version looked much better to me.

Totally agree.

Man, compared to the IQ, they're moving units.

I do like the current style more than the bubbly, roundy style of just prior, but I wouldn't call myself a fan of them. Surprised at how many I see on the road.

Well, considering the iQ is a dead man walking, it's not surprising. However, the iQ is a total niche vehicle, whereas the Corolla is staple product.

I see a lot of them in my area too. Most of them are the new "S" version. I don't see very many L's or LE's.

I don't like the contours of the new corolla. It seems like the body lines don't flow well together. I however do like that Toyota has given them the standard HID system for all models which makes them look more modern and luxurious.

There is a bit of a disconnect in where fenders meet body, but I still think it's a big improvement over prior models.

Something about the stance and proportions just looks really off to me on the latest generation Corolla. Looks like a bad attempt at copying a Kia.

Checked the Gulf States Toyota website. It literally does not let you buy ANY Toyota with a manual. That's just crazy and rude.

When I inquired with several Arizona Toyota dealerships about getting a manual SE, they acted like I was crazy for wanting one, and that it couldn't be done.

 I do as well.
Not a fan of those 'boywonder-ish' alloy wheels, though .
I have seen a few examples of the S without those god awful wheels. Almost all have been not too far from major airports. I wonder if some car rental companies order the S, but without the gaudy wheels?

 to those dealers. Ten months ago, when I was shopping for my '14 Yaris, there were under 10 manual SEs in the whole country. Arizona was the only state with two of that total.

Late yesterday, I saw another current Corolla S without the gaudy wheels .

Unfortunately, even without the awful OEM alloy wheels, the latest Corolla has some weird body lines, really strange/bad proportions at various angles, and a weak-looking stance due to its very rounded top-to-bottom shape. The S compounds the problem, with a front design that is far worse than the L/LE.

  To each his own. It's the first Corolla I think has even passable styling since the days of the E100/E110 (And the GEO version in those days was, IMO, better looking).
 We can definitely agree though....that those gaudy wheels are gawd awful :biggrin:.
P.S. Great, wise quote from Nimoy, btw .
