Greetings to all my fellow Yaris drivers. I have done the stupid thing. I've locked myself out of my 2008 3 door. It's manual locks and I've made an attempt with a slim jim but have gotten no where. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or anything to help?

All I've got is "Get on the phone".

Try a metal coat hanger with a makeshift handle to push the lock and try to fit it in between the gap in the door at the top and try to push the door lock. Good luck.

that's what i'm going to have to do. an hour messing with a slim-jim has gotten me nowhere. oh well. time to figure out a secure and hidden place to hide a spare on the outside of the car

magnet box under the car.

if i had more than just 2 neodymium magnets (already destined for another unrelated project) i'd do that. Instead i'm going to rig up a compartment behind one of my license plates. Once i come up with just how i'm going to do it, i'll probably post it all.

Sooooo, you're going to tell everyone how to steal your car?

Ha! i may have had a lapse in thinking long enough to lock my keys in my car but i can assure you, no one will know where i keep my key. i should have clarified that i will be posting a "general" how to and not anything specific. but then again, i might not post it. we shall see. oh and i did manage to get back into my car. used a scrap part from one of the aircraft i work on to unlock the car from the inside. don't let anyone tell you that our "roller" locks can't be operated without fingers

All I have to say is AAA. For $47 a year I'm never locked out any car I'm in, Free towing up to 25 miles, They bring you a battery if yours dies and will fix your tire on the side of the road it's piece of mind

but on that note also check with your insurance carrier as some of them have road side assistance in their plans ( I have Geico and have 100 miles of towing and flat fix but no lock smith)

Have someone who has AAA call and meet you there. It won't cost you a dime

Funny how the above two posters have failed to notice the fact that OP had already gotten back into his car.

OP - did you manage to do it without scratching any paint?

Hadn't failed just future knowledge as AAA makes you wait 48 hours before account is active just believe that everyone should have some sort of road side assistance as most people come with the it will never happen to me and then its me with my card that gets them out of the fix they placed themselves in

Honestly, there is a reason I always keep my house keys separate from my car keys. And I always have a duplicate/valet key with my house keys.

Never get locked.

Got locked out this morning because of alarm passive locking. Spare key in my wallet got me back in :headbang:

Grrr!!! I hate that auto-lock feature! Normally I think be fine with it, but mine is set to about 30 sec. Seriously gotta figure out a way to disable it  or at the very least increase the delay.

There's the 'rubber wedge/air bladder kit', but those might be illegal to possess unless you are a tow truck/auto club service driver.

Don't lock the doors. Don't keep anything in the car worth stealing. They've been thru mine a couple of times. No Problem...

As far as auto locking, chipped keys, and car alarms go, Id rather have a harelip! :bonk:

I like the power locks on my '14 (I know, different from auto locking), but still love my hand crank windows and 5-speed.

I actually enabled my passive locking. I'm scared of disarming it unintentionally..buttons gets pressed in pockets easy.

I just wish I could increase the delay too. Probly I'll upgrade to a more premium alarm system in the future.

And...it happened! Got locked out as a result of the passive re-arming of the alarm system. (which was set to 30 sec. or so by the place i got it instaled at) Normally I would be pissed, but what's happening is just pure irony.

I got locked out exactly when I was attempting to dissable that perticulat system function! I was sitting down in the passenger side to read the manual, not realizing the system got passively armed, locking the doors, and when i got up to go to the driver side, I locked the passenger door with my keys still in the car. *facepalm*
