View Full Version : Clicking noise!

Hello-
I am hearing a faint clicking sound, sounds like a bicycle freewheel, when my Yaris is moving in drive or reverse- clicks increase evenly with speed, no clicks while idling. I have looked under the vehicle and haven't detected any debris attached to the axle or frame. has any one experienced this before? Any thoughts? Thanks for any input -

Stone in disc brake dust shield maybe.

If it were mine, I would jack up one corner of the car at a time and give the wheel a spin to see if I can reproduce the sound. If not it might be in the drive line somewhere. good luck.

If it's anything like this

Then it might be a small stone trapped inside the brake rotor. Do what he ^ said and figure out what wheel is it coming from.

Stone in brakes or tire like the above posters stated. It could also be your C/V axle which is doubtful due to it being an '09 but check to see if the boot is ripped at all on the axles

Double check all your lug nuts are secure.
Don't ask how I know that this can cause that sound. :(

^^^^^ This was my first thought...having had this happen on other vehicles.
