I followed these steps and ended up with this.

http://readymademag.com/yaris/ipod.php

o. and it doesn't take 10 minutes...just taking out the cup holder alone was a PITA big time.

fyi. I'm spraying the dock to match the interior so no one tries jacking it haha. it's all just primer ^^

Sorry for some of the poor quality photos. It was taken at night in my garage which doesn't have much lighting. Hope you enjoy.

I find it to be pretty useful. All i need now is to use some double sided tape and tape it down and then I'm set.

I've been debating whether or not to do that... and to be honest I'm still not sure about it...

If I could find a docking "y cable," as to split the docks 1 port into two, then I would prob. do this right away...

do you have any pics of the dock from further away?

ps
great job

it's look nice, but where will you put your drink at? it's seem like that the only place to place drink for driver side.

look at the drivers door in the pictures lol....

I would say his best bet now would be the cup holder behind the arm rest, or do the LB's not have that one?

Just make sure never to leave the iPod in since it's right in view as someone is walking by. Granted it's not a good idea to ever leave your iPod in simply because the battery gets drained if left in any type of extreme temperatures for longer than a few minutes. Freaked me out the first time I forgot it in the car during the winter.

Does the iPod fall out when you turn, brake, or accelerate hard? That would be one of my cheif concerns.

Paint it blue.

ipod doesn't fall out during hard turn/brake/acceleration. i thinking of painting it grey instead of blue. maybe i should have a vote......blue or grey?

Not to be rude, but I think that looks pretty bad. I have no idea where to mount the iPod in the Yaris, but I think the cup holder isn't the place to put it.

no offense taken haha. i like how it takes the place of my cup holder and when driving it's easier to prod at the controls rather than picking the ipod up and controlling it.

so far:

gray: 1
blue: 0

and it continues haha

haha that's the exact train of thought i've had ever since i first saw them. i still don't like them even though this is a recently purchased one (bought on 5/5/07) i only use it so that i can get rid of all the cds in my car but you might as well call me an ipod convert.....and i use to own a Creative Zen Micro 8gb grey

yea i hate ipods to the max, they were voted in the top ten skonky list. Though i got a shitty ipod shuffle for my bday....i used it once and its still in my draw sitting there.

I recon creative makes sexy mp3s boooooya. Though would be nice if my head unit can accept mp3 players arrg. $800AUD head unit i have, and it doesnt accept stupid mp3 players. I have to buy you know those little tapes with the mp3 cords attach to it. They were super cool....

I'm not a big iPod fan myself, I have a trusty old iRiver H30 to hold my music, but my head unit has a direct ipod control interface, so I "long term borrowed" my friend's old 3G iPod. Since there's no need to control from the ipod itself, it sleeps peacefully in the upper passenger glovebox

i'll have to wait until i get my navi installed (yea......it's not installed yet) then i'll be able to control the ipod by touch screen. I like the location of it because it looks nice haha. Can't be hiding all the goodies (until you park the car that is)

hey, Etimago, do you think you can put a poll on this thread? what color do you think i should paint the ipod dock? blue or gray.

if you can/can't thanks.

i vote gray... that's only coz it might throw off the blue thing u got goin on the center.. and ur friendly neighborhood crackheads won't think twice and get curious:tongue:
